It means nothing for the game, people need to stop being melodramatic about this. There hasn't been a sporting competition in history where the worst team hasn't had seven shades of shit belted out of them a few times through the season. This year's Knights are on the worse end, sure, but that's really the end of it.
Any discussion of TPAs and the salary cap not working here is nonsense - if anything the Sharks are an example of the system working. They were on deaths door for 3 years. They hit rock bottom. Then they stuck to their guns, cleaned out managerial deadwood, backed their coach, and recruited smartly, with a vision, over a few years. A bit of a drug cheating hiccup and all that, but they've come out the other side of it a strong club with a great roster.
Congrats to Cronulla, a few years ago it was them on the other side of this kind of score. Here's hoping Newcastle can show the same kind of backbone.
