Don't know, but u said they didn't exist or were 80 years old. Wenty has a NSW cup team (well did last I watched), where's there supporter base or west magpies etc..?!
The old Jets fans are basically non-existent, they’re either already dead or are senior citizens. The new Jets fans are a completely different group, a lot are hipster types who like Jets merchandise to show that they’re from the area and occasionally like going to Henson Park to drink on a sunny afternoon. That latter group has never really made any noise to get the Jets back into the NRL, they’re happy with the Jets experience as is.

Could you get many of them to support a WA based Jets? Maybe. Is it worth WA adopting the brand and shared game arrangements with Sydney? I doubt it.

The jets have never been dead and do have a fanbase.

I'm pretty sure the club is realistic and happy enough with their existence in the nsw cup. A link to a Perth team raises their profile.

The fact the people behind Perth think Newtown would be a better partner than the bears speaks volumes about what they know about the nrl

On par with thinking the firebirds was a good name

stupid

link with Glebe then you can bring back the (dirty) reds

We need a second tier feeder club, that has been know from day 1. Why we'd want to adopt a sydney brand or even worse allow a second teir club to actually call the shots is far more confusing. I suspect the east coast media may be putting one and one together and coming up with three.

I think if you look at the actual quotes from the newtown club rep it is far more telling than the glitter the journo has created around it. All the club has said has there has been an initial conversation, its in infancy and perth is looking for a feeder club. I can see how that would benefit Newtown if Pirates (say) funded them to bring back jnrs across all the age ranges and in return they fed the Pirates with players developed in the East. That makes far more sense than WA being called Jets and somehow Newtown running the club.

Hang on. I thought Perth had thousands of juniors just needing an opportunity and they would slot straight into the NRL to join Matt Peterson.

Why do they need the jets a club pirates fans think is extinct?

Yeh out of all the second tier club options out there it would seem the weakest one, but again always wise to take what you read with a pinch of salt and read the direct quotes rather than the journos interpretation. As a genuine partnership where a WA club helped Newtown re establish as a proper second tier club whilst not expecting to own or have a say in the running of a WA club could work for both parties.

They have that already With Cronulla

how much does it cost to run a nsw cup side ? 1 mill pa. Bears could’ve covered their own coats

Cronulla's not funding them to be a proper club with jnrs. Just a training place for fringe players.

Bears have 'non negotiables'

Firehawks ppl saying the same about dolphins. History & IP is something new brands can't buy.
The Dolphins were by far the biggest, richest and most supported club in terms of support in the QRL and BRL respectively.

Newtown aren't that at NSW Cup level.

Even then, I think you will find the media will go "off them" as they will now finish outside the eight, and suddenly start being deemed a failure (which of course is pure rubbish)
