The Dragons most certianly don't have more members then the Cowboys, not even close (13k total)

And even the Dogs is only a few hundred more then NQ

We all now that member numbers are a bit of a fools gold now anyway.

What really matters is season tickets, and its clear, given the crowd averages that clubs like the Cowboys and even Storm are outdoing most Sydney teams in that regard.

I was talking about the final tally from last year

Taking in rescues is doing gods work

people who just abandon their pets are scum of the highest order

I see dogs left alone in people's yards on a short leash. They never get any attention. They're so sad and miserable. I could never do that to a dog.

I saw it all the time when I volunteered at animal shelters. The people who do it are the type who want to have a good time every day. The cruel people who breed animals for profit are even more despicable.

More so the videos where cars drive out to a lonely place and let their dog out then drive off

I had two litters I gave away 8 pups for free. I would’ve felt bad making money off my dog and then taking her pups away.

I did keep five for myself. Lmao

Stop confusing money and greater opportunity as prerequisites for being a “true” supporter.

The Balinese kid in your example just doesn’t have the means to go to a EPL game (very unlikely to anyway) He might never have the means to travel like you do and go watch a game like you do. That doesn’t mean him and others (and there are probably millions of them with regards to the EPL and soccer) are less of a supporter than some rich guy from London or Manchester etc

Stop being a snob and an obnoxious wanker about it.
Perth Red ain't the only one guilty of it. When I joined the board in 2020 I was met with hostility from a few Cowboys fans because I'm not from North Queensland. They told me I'm not one of them and mocked me for living in Logan. These people couldn't spell very well and had a massive chip on their shoulder about people from southeast Queensland. I got sick of the Logan bashing and decided to give it back to these pricks. There's plenty of unemployment and crime in Cairns and Townsville, yet Logan is singled out for some reason. People from Logan get sick of being stereotyped. We cop it every day.

There's still f**kwits who don't realise Logan is a city and incorrectly refer to it as a "suburb". If Logan is a "suburb" then what does that make Townsville?

There's plenty of people in FNQ who want to secede. If they carry on like that then the Cowboys will lose supporters from afar who've actively bought memberships and merchandise for decades. The club cannot afford to lose these supporters.

When a person dumps a dog or cat in the wild they're condemning it and the local wildlife. Natives species are preyed upon by feral cats and dogs that were abandoned by their owners.

You started making ad hominem attacks against me in 2020 because you couldn't win an argument. You argued until you were blue in the face that Logan isn't a city and got all pissy and absusive when I made a pun about the Raiders "raiding" talent from the BRL. You mocked the idea of a traditional BRL club getting an NRL licence when I suggested it in May/June 2020.

A traditional BRL club got the 17th NRL licence and is bigger than the Raiders have ever been. You've been bitter ever since.

This is the guy that wished death upon me, because I didn't support his view that a "true" Queensland RL supporter would want to see Sydney clubs culled.

Piss off with the sob story mate. This is a completely invented fiction in your head, to justify your behavior.

I asked the question earlier.

How much local press/Goodwill would a Perth or NZ 2 team get if they are running 12th or 13th?

I can't imagine people in NZ staying up late or Perth leaving work early to watch a shit team they have no history with.

Storm and Wanderers are the 2 outliers due to instant success
How can you say that though ?, great supporter you would make lol, you support a team you support a team, win, lose or draw, like seriously ?.
If anything a Perth team could set up a cauldron against visiting opposition teams, long flight over etc.

History. We've seen successful Perth-based teams, such as the Wildcats, Scorchers and Glory in the NSL draw massive support. Glory lost much of their fanbase when they became also-rans in the A-League [while other clubs were drawing big crowds].

We've seen TV ratings in Perth for the West Coast Eagles go from 95k+ to 74k in 12 months. A few years ago their ratings were about 130k. That's a huge drop off.

FTA ratings are in a slow (fast?) decline across the board though.

Years ago a top rating show would easily get 1.5 to 2M plus, now its less than half that some nights.

East Coast RL fans aren't really in a position to get on our high horse when it comes to crowds though, our crowds have been dogshit, especially when a team is not travelling well.

Dude I go for the Panthers most of my life they have been shit.

The game is going to where it is a very small fish, the majority of games don't fall in a good timezone

If that is NZ, Rugby is going to get 80% of the press. Perth AFL is going to try and strangle the new team.

This literally happens in every sport for nearly every club, barring one or two outliers. Not sure why you're singling perth out for this possibility. You think it'll be any different for Dolphins if they sit near the bottom for a few years?

The trick is to have a big enough hardcore fanbase to ride out the tough years and take advantage of the good years to build on that hardocre base.

Broncos were the most watched club when they finished with the wooden spoon in 2020.

Cowboys drew 21,600 with a team that won two games in 1995. Crowds were still strong in 1996 and 1997.

Dolphins drew an average of 32k to Lang Park with a weak team and were the fifth most viewed club on TV.

A Perth-based club is more likely than not going to struggle on the pitch.

What makes you think a Perth-based team will have more success than the Dolphins recruiting quality players?

As I said there are outliers, Broncos and Newcastle being the two NRL ones. Everyone else sees around a 20-40% decline in crowds when performing poorly. Cowboys went from a high of 21k to 12k a drop of 42%.

Dolphins are riding first year hype. A few years in 13th and what do you think they'd be drawing realistically?

There's many factors in recruiting players. Without knowing what a Perth clubs lead in time, set up, coach, resources, facilities, strategy, partnerships and development plan is it is impossible to say how they will go on the field or in attracting players to play for the club. Im not expecting instant success, but even a mid table team should be able to draw a 14-15k avg imo. A top team would be hitting the sold out signs at HBF park.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating, its amazing how little faith in our game people have.

As in, only the perfect conditions can result in it being successful anywhere outside Sydney or Brisbane.

Weirdly the Venn Diagram between those that hold this view, and those that think the game will suddenly become big overnight in the US, has a lot of cross over.

tbh its just an inherent bias against some cities. The same people saying perth wont be successful because its an afl city are championing how successful a Christchurch team will be despite it being a Union stronghold.
The same people that bemoan Storms success because it took extra investment are championing PNG despite the handout existence it will need just to exist.
Then there are those who have no faith in our game and believe unless you have a pokie club and are in NSW or Qlnd you couldn't possibly prosper in the NRL.
