Hahaha manly go it alone, that happened before... its like deja vu... they can't go alone, they are inept at junior level, hence the blacktown hook up
Now clubs are flush with cash they will increasingly rely less and less on other LC's. We are already starting to see it happen. Only a matter of time before there is an NRL reserve grade again.

Manly already runs sides in the other age groups.

Yes this and so they should be, its why our competition in the early 90s was very competitive each team was flush with marquees

Still yet to see a licence tho... been 20 years of most popular expansion city favourite, and f**k to show for it, they are only getting a look in now coz of the bears
If expansion locations are only getting a look in because of the Bears, then the CC would be getting discussed, or ideas like the Bears regional travelling circus. Places like Perth, NZ etc are getting suggested as they’re places the NRL are interested in, not because the Bears want it.

which will leave LC's like Blacktown going the way of Wenties unless they can find someone like a Perth team to partner with. It would actually benefit them as they could then run age group teams of their own which they cant at moment as they rely on Manlys to feed the NSW cup team.

"Anywhere Bears" Barr NSW is the objective, Perth is on the top of that hit list, why population and lack of presence, Nz and Vic already have teams, so Perth is the 1st on offer, this fails, next city...

The really sad part of this, and a very poor reflection on the continued mindset of the game, is youre potentially right!

Potentially? When have I been wrong...
If you guys f**k this up, it'll end up vic2 bears, and Perth won't be involved, I said earlier it would be Adelaide Bears, but let's be serious, PVL wants to piss on AFL any chance he can get

Id rather wait than see a NS fifo club in perth leave after a few years and f**k the game forever more here. Its taken 25 years to get over the Reds being cut, we couldnt survive another f**k up like that and Im more interested in the game thriving than a tokenistic NRL club.

Hahaha you guys only had 3 years of existence, not sure that's the big crow you need to be crowing about.. imagine the bears fans, team was around since inception ...INCEPTION, and they seem to be willing to bury hatchet and cross the country to see them back, what's 3 years compared to over a century

Plus the unspoken one that the Bears treat as such a given they don’t even discuss it- continuing to hold the North Sydney district.

If it’s true they’ve backed down on ownership demands, that’s great, but in the past the number of games at NSO has been suggested to be between 2-4 and it was only recently that 4-6 games at NSO was being pushed by the Bears as part of their Bears regional travelling circus idea. It’s on their website - https://www.northsydneybears.com.au/a-new-era-our-concept-for-the-nrl/

The idea of any games at NSO should be knocked back by WA. The Sydney-based fans will get so many opportunities to see them without taking 1 of WA’s 12 home games to Sydney.
Keep up, those are now the only the non negotiables listed above, the Bears will not give up North Sydney as there needs to be a base to attract players from NSW and QLD, if you can’t get your head around this look at the Melbourne Storm, they have Qld Cup sides and a team in the NSW Cup as their feeder clubs.
Hopefully sooner rather later Perth will start their own production line of players but it has taken the Storm 26 years for their pathways to start taking shape with a junior pathways.

TBF thats because they have only just started!
Perth will start from day 1, but again that is my concern with a NS owned Perth bears. Will they be committed to developing the game in WA or just happy to rely on NS pathways?

Agree, a pre season trial at NSO is all that should happen. If it commercially makes sense and engages a Perth Bears membership in Sydney then Im ok with us taking one home game to Allianz a year against Manly during rivalry round. Playing a game in a 10k stadium with no corporate facilities smacks of nostalgia with no business sense.
The whole thing reeks of nostalgia first. So much thought is being given to the old Sydney fanbase without thinking what happens in 30-40 years time when the vast majority of the Gen X and Boomer Bears fanbase are no longer with us. Who from the area is going to care about the WA Bears in 30-40 years time? How are they going to get North Shore kids who have no ties to the Bears to become interested in a WA team?

The whole thing is far from optimal, if the move to WA was done back when they were first left out, they would have had a chance of maintaining a Sydney fanbase that would still be somewhat sizeable in another 20-30 years, like the Swans have in Melbourne. Kids of South Melbourne supporters in Melbourne have been raised being able to go and see the Swans play regularly, keeping the support alive. There’s been over 20 years since the Bears were left out, there’s a generational gap in support for them that will see the Sydney base drop off rapidly down the line.

the media will be even more in love with V'landys if he brings back the bears, he knows it.

I do like the conciet that this forum has regarding new clubs.

It's like they have ignored the fact that the Melbourne Storm, NQ Cowboys, Brisbane Broncos and Newcastle Knights aren't some of the most well supported and highest rating clubs in the comp.

There seems to be an awful lot of egotistical nonsense coming out of the Bears camp as per usual. I`d be far more concerned that Daniel Dickson didn`t know and that the Perth bid seem to be doing all the running (2 dozen meetings with the W.A. Gov`t) without North Sydney being involved once.
If Cumins can show the NRL that he can raise the $30m, which he seems confident and in a wealthy state like W.A. is a pittance, I fear that will be the end of the Bears involvement, certainly on any of their terms, with the W.A. bid.
$30m is cute. What about after?
