No rest for the wicked. 5 game ODI series kicks off this Saturday

All 5 matches commence at 7pm as we start our final stages of preparation for our WC defence

Finch is a massive worry, hope he can get going to some good form

Maxwell and Short looked good in the t20 series win v India

As in the other thread - hopefully Maxwell will bat 5? Exactly the role Buttler has for England... I know The Show has some epic fails, but so does Buttler - and he's not as good as Buttler, but he can win a game with enough deliveries to face

I just hope Glenn Maxwell gets selected in his best position in this format. Number 7.

Nonsensical that he could bat above Alexander Carey or Marcus Stoinis.

Maxwell at "seven" is bang on. In ODI cricket he's more of an overs player than a position player.

Get him in with 15 overs or so to go and set him loose. Sure as shit don't want him in at 3/50

Think I said in the other thread, you probably want him in a position where he's going to get 50-100 balls to face... 7 if often too low for that. Think we agree it's an overs thing - at about over 30 I think I'd have him in next, whether that's #3 or #7 - he's can ruin it for the opposition from there

Yeah but you don't list a floater at say number four. In a natural order he should come in below slower starters like Stoinis, obviously.

I think too much is being made of the Maxwell at seven thing. He's a very good finisher and that's a good listing point for your finisher. He can always float up

Hope they're planning on giving Khawaja a game at some point. Seems stupid that he's over there on vacation when he should be here getting some kind of form on the board for the ashes.
