I just can't help thinking a part of our decent into mediocrity in recent years has been an over reliance on players who are nothing short of ordinary. Siddle is one example.

After 28 tests he has a bowling average of over 32. We can't keep a bowler who has an average of 32 in the line-up for too long.

Thankfully, Pattinson looks the part. And hopefully Cummins and Harris can be injury free for long periods. And fingers crossed Hazlewood, Cutting and Faulkner can take the next step up.

Siddle bowled OK against the kiwis but like I said before the Chappell/Hadlee, Siddle and Johnson took us from No 1 to No 5 in the world, why would we persevere with them if we want to climb the rankings again.

I've got no problems with his effort or attitude but he aint a world class quick for mine. I would rather we tried some one like Cutting or Hazlewood, if they get hit then so be it but at least they will be better for it, Siddle will never get any better than he is now.
