Siddle can eat peas and corn until the cows come home, if he gets 5 for into the wind.

It is rare for me to to like and respect a Victorian, but Peter is one. Warney, Keith Miller, Bill Lawry, Wendy Jnr Jnr....

So I do not care what he eats or why.

Hilfenhaus is getting too old it would appear, Johnson is too old, Starc is REALLY inconsistent..

The only 3 certainties for our bowling attack against the poms should be Pattinson, Siddle, Lyon.. That last spot could be filled with either Cummins, Harris, Starc.. depending on injuries and form, I'd probably have to go with Cummins at this stage.

To the people that think Cummins is a lock/walk up start for the Ashes, why?

There is no garuntee that he'll be fit in time for then, and even if he is he won't have played First Class cricket for 21 Months

Where do I start with this post?

1) Pitch isn't anything like a road.
2) Their batting line up is as overly reliant on two players as ours is.
3) Starc is looking the goods these days and Siddle is back, plus Watson in the side.

Anything else to add?

Yeah,

1) Pitch has been good for batting since the first ball
2) Those two players got f**k all and if we had only got 350, we'd wouldn't have much of a lead if any
3) Starc bowled 1 good ball all day to a very tired batsman on 140+

You were right about Siddle and Watson being in the side though, I'll give you that.

For all the deserved sledging of Johnson, does anyone think that Starc has done enough so far in this Test to retain his spot?

I personally think he hasn't.

Johnson will be back for Hilfy, nothing is surer

If Starc does nothing in the 2nd dig, then Bird or Cutting should come into calculation, maybe Dougie?

Will Clarke make an aggressive declaration today?

Maybe declare 30min after tea would be my bet. Have about a 360-380 lead?

Lot pends on how wicket plays and the weather forecast as well

If Clarke wants to make an agressive declarationh than I think our batsmen will have to play quite agressively.

I think we need 400 and 4 sessions to bowl at them at least.

Hopefully these two can put on a good opening stand here, we'll need another 250-300 to feel safe imo. Pitch still seems fairly good, but there's a bit happening and Herath could come into play here later on

Agreed, alot being based on one performance well over 12 months ago.

Give the kid time to get himself right and ready for the rigours of international cricket

So far so good this morning.

They have added 39 runs at 5.5 an over so far.

Looks like they'll be pushing for a fair lead and be bowling this arvo.
