I can't believe the Lankans have only got one slip in place for Hughes..
He hasn't been knicking to the slips in this test. That's ancient history and unlike you the Sri Lankans are not living in 2011.
hey, Hughes came in with Australia 1/132, absolutely no excuse for batting at a strike rate of under 100. Deserves immediate chop if he fails to do so
One, the Poms were 1/300 when I complained. Two, I didn't whinge when Trott was just getting in. He was firmly set and he still wasn't upping the run rate.

If Hughes' run rate is 30 while he goes from 30 to 50 I'll complain then aswell.

FFS. Cowan.

Even worse than batting with Cowan, because of the plodder getting out now he's making Hughes bat with Watson. Noone likes batting with Watson.

You are becoming a caricature of yourself..

The kid has been back in the side for 1 & a bit innings,& all of a sudden the past is "ancient history"..

FMD i'd hate to be a silly as you..

FFS he hasn't just asked Santa really nicely to stop nicking. He has made physical changes to his technique to stop edgeing to slips as much. It is not a weakness anymore. Setting a field to a gameplan that worked 12 months ago is farcical and would be horrible captaincy.

Now he's a bit like Katich and Graeme Smith, you are more likely to get Hughes out bowled or LBW than edged to the slips. That should be a captains gameplan against him.

BM, Cowan got a absolute peach. You're having a whinge at him but he did his job. He laid a platform for your man crush Hughes to score and score quick.

I agree he set a platform but as much as I dislike him I'd rather Hughes bat with him than with Watson.

And no the plan is certainly not to score quick. The plan would be get to a lead of 400. There's still enough time to do that without being too risky.
Hughes selfishly slow batting is not what Clarke would be looking for ATM..
Yeah because he wants him to get out 4 minutes before lunch.

I actually watch shield cricket. It's been the same story all season.

Can smell a Watson dismissal here, not confident at all of the peaheart making any sort of score here. Hope I'm wrong, but..

Hughesy and Watto have survived to lunch. Excellent job.

Still time for Hughesy to get a 100 and for Watto to make a contribution for a change.

My thoughts precisely. Obviously hope I'm wrong and he does well but the numbers don't lie. He's averaged 20 odd in his last 10 tests. As a batsman he's out of form in a big way.

I'd want nothing more than a big partnership here between Hughes and Watson until we declare. But I don't like the odds of that.

9 off 31 balls..Very poor form with the state of the game..

You may watch shield cricket, but you actually have very little idea what you are seeing..

You could watch synchronised swimming & be convinced you were watching cricket..

Reading your uneducated nonsense can be amusing at times though..

Like watching Steady Eddy do comedy..

The state of the game was there's just been 2 quick wickets and the total is still not near where we need it to be considering we have a depleted attack and it was just minutes before lunch.

The short term priority was to stop the 2 quick wickets turning into a collapse and getting to lunch without any more wickets lost.

Now after the break they can start building towards a 400 run lead without taking extreme risks or getting stuck.
