Saints were brilliant tonight again. The defense is awesome.
In the first half Bradford controlled things very well for 30 minutes, forcing several repeat sets and they were constantly camped on the Saints line. Their reward for all that pressure? One try from a dropped kick by Francis Meli.
The ref helped on half time with the strangest of decisions to ignore his own interpretation of Hooper's challenge on Deacon, then a minute later be persuaded by the touch judge that he was wrong.
In the second half Saints pack simply beat Bradford up, they were brutal. Jason Cayless and Keiron Cunningham were fantastic throughout but from the minute Maurie Fa'asavalu stepped onto the field, the physical power was too much for Bradford. Saints looked monstrous when they had Cayless, Cunningham, Fa'asavalu, Graham, Sculthorpe and Hooper in the pack. They battered the Bulls, simple as. Best pack ever in British League? If they keep that up all season they will have a claim.
The game will be remembered for Sean Long's hilarious mistake. A 40 metre incision by Leon Pryce sent him clear under the posts. Long chooses to play to the camera and dives theatrically. He misses the line, hits the dry ground and drops it!
