A fair while ago. I graduated in 92. The year Jimmy Webster ex balmain and parra player started. Who were your mates. Probably the only names I would know from that graduating year would be the Detjens. Oh maybe they were a few years earlier. Detjens and Ritters maybe.

ahh fair enough, I think my mates were in the same year as meggsy's little bro Andrew

Lauren and Mark umm having a temporary blank on their surname, they're twins anyway lol
also danielle thompson who was in the same year but left at the end of year 11 - she was only at pats for one year though.

The first junior trials are only a week away with Penrith playing Norths at St Marys on the 21st.

I am still trying to find out info on other trials being played. I'm sure there are a lot on which i haven't listed. If your clubs haven't realeased a list perhaps someone could ring them to post it here :)

I don't know if they really won as such. Penrith were trying out twice as many players as we were. In SGB for instance we had a final squad of 26 + the 4 Flegg players. Penrith had 4 whole teams worth. Interestingly one great try was scored by us in the last quarter which made it a good finish.

I guess what I am saying is if it was a real compitition and each side had only one squad then it would matter who won but as it was on Saturday an actual result was not what anybody was looking.

Balmain Tigers junior rep teams played Penrith in hot conditions at St Patricks College, Dundas, on Saturday, January 28.
David Kelly, the Balmain Football Manager, said the players performed well in testing conditions.
“Our players defended well against a very big and mobile Penrith outfit,’’ Kelly said.
“Our coaches Stuart Stanton (Harold Matthews) and Ray Windle (SG Ball) were happy with the hit out and are close to naming their final squads.’’
Results: Harold Matthews : Penrith 20 d Balmain 16, SG.Ball: Penrith 12 drew Balmain 12.

Trials
Balmain will play South Sydney in trial matches at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday, February 4.

They have named a few players who i thought were playing for the Magpies this year?

I think that side shows exactly why I just can't get myself interested in PL this year.

There are really only two players (Caldwell and Marando) who have spent any real amount of time playing for Balmain (and only a very few more that were even there last year) and of those two Caldwell is likely to spend a while in flegg and Marando will be lucky to get a bench spot once Reynolds and Nowland are fit (although Nowland at least has spent plenty of years as a tiger).

PL sides always have a high turnover but thats usually balanced by a core of players who have either come up through the grades or been long term players at the club this years team just doesn't have that. Its a classy looking team but it just doesn't feel like a Balmain team.

They are playing for the Maggies. Pretty pointless, but there you go. All the 2005 Maggies that are playing for BRET this year bar Saffy and Reynolds aren't there - they're in England.

well thats just stupid

whats the point of organising a PL trial without the players that will actually be playing for us

get your own trial! :p

North Sydney defeated the Windsor Wolves 60 to nil tonight.
I was expecting a good game but both the Bears and us treated it as a warm up. The Bears had about 15 players do a training run on the kids ground before the game and then a second squad came out and played.

For the 1st half we put on A reserve grade players and trialists and you guys scored 9 tries. The 2nd half was a good game. We had Tito, Ben stuart and Luke Bannon from our grand final team plus Lucas Reilly and Lino who could get Deonk's spot now he is playing for Magpies. The rest were A grade players and trialists and they went good and there was no score until the Bears went in a minute from the end.

Our JB squad will have a run at the 7's next week. Good luck to the Bears in 2006.

The other 15 players you mentioned were the contracted players. The players who took the field were trialing for a contract. There were a couple of good players i noticed in the Windsor side including Elias Paiyo from the Sydney Bulls and Danny Chiha and Paul Horan from Bears Jersey Flegg.
