ive been looking around, im not real sure. 5 or 10 years ago a dreamteam would be easy to pick. now there seems to be a big gap between new and old players. i'd want garnett for sure and shaq. maybe paul pierce (boston supporter ;-) ), lamar odom and stephon marbury.

In the international game my team out of 12 current NBA players would be, sorted by preference:
PG - Cassell/Marbury
SG - Redd/Hamilton/Hoiberg or Barry
SF - Artest/Prince
PF - Garnett/Duncan
C - Shaq/B.Wallace/J.O'Neal

I don't think any international team could beat that, because it has the outside shooting to beat any team in the world and no one could go with Shaq,Duncan and O'Neal and Garnett downlow. Things will be different in four years though.

I think Minnesota, Sacramento, San Antonio and Detroit would all do very well in an international competition.

I reckon Micheal Jordan (back in his day) and his Bulls would have been pretty close to winning one. Although Longley would have to minused from that side.

Is your salary cap $10??

PG: Kidd/Marbury/LBJ23
SG: KB8/TMac
SF: KG/Marion/Artest
PF: Duncan/J O'Neal
CC: Shaq/B Wallace

i wouldnt mind a couple of 6th man type players, i dont like the idea of 5 allen iversons playing on the court at one time if u know wat i mean.

PG: B.Diddy/Dre Miller (Kidd will be a bit old and his knees are just about shot already)
SG: Kobe/Allen
SF: Garnett/Artest
PF: Duncan/ J'O
C: Shaq/B Wall

add to that...Bron and Brand, gives you a nice 12 man rotation.

No, I just think your team needs to be stacked with shooters and allround talents rather than excitment players like Kidd, Kobe, TMac. If theres one thing learnt from the olympics its that athleticism no longer wins gold.

Some of these picks are not accounting for 2008 being 4 years away. Shaq may be too old by then, and some of the others too.

Yea but there also be players coming along in the next four years which we will not know about untill the time, so I figured it was easier to choose a current team.

I think Lebron and Carmelo will be ready by then (to be much better than this year). Any younger players than them, I agree it's too soon to tell.

3 POINTS MADE PER GAME
Kidd: 1.4
Marbury: 1.1
LBJ23: 0.8
KB8: 1.1
TMac: 2.6
Marion: 1.1
Artest: 1.0

I think there is enough shooters.

Shaq would be 36, i'd say he would be dominant then, whether he will be the best American Centre in 2008, im not sure, but your right, i didn't take in that it will be 2008.

Can i re-do my team?

PG: LBJ23/Hinrich
SG: KB8/T-Mac
SF: KG/Anthony
PF: DUNCAN/Stoudemire
CC: J O'NEAL/Miller

I don't know its pretty tough, not quite knowning the ages.

Kidd: 1.4 @ .321
Marbury: 1.1 @ .318

KB8: 1.1 @ .327
TMac: 2.6 @ .339

I still don't rate any of them when you consider the efficiency overseas teams knock dow the 3's at.

But if you put 1 or 2 specialist 3pt gunners in there they could dominate. I would think if Redd or Ray Allen are available next olympics they'll be certs.
