Probably doesn't deserve its own thread. Both teams clearly had their eyes on the 2nd round. Brazil were pretty decent in the first half but absolutely just mailed in the second half. Feel for people that paid to watch this game.

Terrible match, I switched off with half an hour left. I wish they had this bloody match scheduled earlier in the group stage so we could have seen a decent contest

Feel bad for Ivory Coast. Another World Cup ending in "What ifs" for Africa's most talented but most underachieving team of recent years. Deserved the win in the first game against Portugal. I guess we'll never know what happened in the second half of the Portugal-North Korea game. Did the Koreans simply give up? Did this Portuguese team that has been so short on goals for years now suddenly and inexplicably tap into their immense talent? The Koreans had blown two golden opportunities in the first half and could have easily been leading. 7-0 certainly didn't give any indication of what they're really capable of.

But really, Portugal's greatest advantage was the scheduling. Playing an already qualified Brazil in the last game meant that goal rush wasn't even really that necessary. But in the end a team that has played uninspiring football for all but 45 minutes of this tournament marches on while another that showed flashes of brilliance in all games goes out. Disappointing.

Portugal will be gone in a couple of days anyway.

Ivory Coast only have themselves to blame, they should have pushed for a winning goal in their first match.

What the hell was that? Seriously

Coaches these days have no shame. This is the World Cup and surely there is a bigger responsibility to put on a show. Both teams were virtually assured of qualifying yet we are served up a non effort, stroll for 90 minutes.

It has been a pretty abject WC to date to be honest. Im not sure just how bad this ball is. However the quality of the free kicks and the crosses is dire to say the least. Throw that in with the amount of 0-0 bore fests and its hard to watch at times.

Hopefully the knock out stages are an improvement.

Maybe Portugal were chasing a draw wanting to take 2nd place.

Switzerland were supposed to win leaving Spain in second thus avoiding them

Switzerland were only supposed to win to the Eurocentrics. Everybody else knew they were sh*t, like most European teams in this tournament.

I was really gunning for Ivory Coast, but obviously it was always going to be extremely tough to qualify. I can't wait to see what the African nations will be like in 8-12 years. They are an emerging power of world football
