Well done& congrats Bluebags & dragons. A contest worthy of the silverware on offer.

Breathingfire, brilliant first up effort, I have often spoke about the topic you wrote about to the missus. It's bloody frustrating indeed.

Then is now
--------------------------------------------
BLUEBAGS

*Pop*
– Always Green (750 OWC)
A heartfelt expose on the trials and doubts that a rugby league players faces when confronted by a potentially career-ending injury. Well written. 87

The Art of Losing – Cliffhanger (741 OWC)
A well researched series of observations surrounding the often frustrating phenomena of defeatism. Technically sound, good debut. 86

I love a good pass – Gorilla (738 OWC)
The writer expresses his attraction to rugby league and supports it with a very extensive list describing the various methods of propelling a rugby league ball by hand from one player to another. Liked it but felt the conclusion was inconclusive. 86

Blackmail – Willow (750 OWC)
A short trip down memory lane and a large prod at the commercial rapaciousness of the rugby league broadcasting industry. We all hold our breath for the announcement of eight men brave and true. 89

Why Origin has to change – A Kiwi perspective
– JoeD (653 OWC)
An intriguing dissection of the State of Origin as a spectacle from the view of the disenfranchised international community, offering the solution; State of Everybody. 85

DRAGONS

Blue – _Johnsy (739 OWC)
An almost evangelic peek into the world of the colour blue and its relationship with hardcore supporters of the New South Wales rugby league team. Somewhat fractured in its presentation and lost its momentum towards the end. 84

The Interview – Breathingfire (748 OWC)
A thought-provoking article built around the vacuous offerings that player interviews offer up as in depth interviews. Both a good presentation and an encouraging debut. 86

History
– Cheesie-the-Pirate (749 OWC)
A “back to the futuresque” piece that convincingly argues that there is space within contemporary rugby league for some of the more quaint peripherals of the game of yore. Stirred some latent juices. 89

The Dream – Drew-Sta (731 OWC)
An irreverent use of the reverend’s famous contribution to emancipation of the black man to underpin the shackles that threaten the development of rugby league. A novel idea that would have benefited from paraphrasing rather than substitution. 86

Location Location Location – Muzby (750 OWC)
An innovative perspective on the landscape of rugby league. Some pretty hefty advice perhaps for clubs that are a little cash-shy. 86

BLUEBAGS 433 defeated DRAGONS 431

POTM: Willow (Bluebags), Cheesie-the-Pirate (Dragons) 89.
