I read a lot. I watch a lot of video. I look at team needs.

Obviously he's raw. A lot of players in the lottery are raw. But most others are just better.

And picking Thompson last year with a high pick was also a mistake from them. With the Thompson pick and this pick they could have picked two much better complimentary pieces for Irving than they have.
Well if Cleveland were looking strictly for a PF last year Thompson wasn't a bad prospect, Faried was probably the only better PF the Thompson.

They didn't strictly have to pick a PF. It's not like the Pistons in 03 when they had lots of good players so they went with Milicic. The Cavs had very little talent, they should have been focused on getting the best talent available.
Who are those picks the cavs should taken?
Jan Vesely in 2011 and Andre Drummond in 2012.

Good two way players who will be starters in this league for 10 years. I'm not sure you can predict that for either Thompson or Waiters.

Jan Vesely hardly played last year and Drummond is a massive character concern and huge doubts over his motor.

Funny you say Vesely will be a 10 year starter when he only started like 5 games towards the back end of the year.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1xHtOMCJPg - This video will highlight the deficiencies in Drummonds game. Particularly in that Syracuse game that I watched.

He let Melo go untouched to get offensive boards. You just CANNOT do that in the NBA. He play's scared. THAT is why he dropped to number 9 and why he would have been a shit pick for the Cav's.

The more I think about the draft the more I think the Warriors made away with it.

Getting Harrison Barnes who, I agree with Jay Bilas, will be a better pro than College guy because the lane is more open in the pro's and he already has a sweet outside stroke...going to the Warriors makes them, IMO sneaky good.

PG - Curry
SG - Thompson
SF - Barnes
PF - Lee
C - Bogut

I know it is a big IF, but IF they all have relatively injury free seasons....that could be a sneaky good team. They also need to address concerns in the second unit as they have guys like Richard Jefferson & Andres Biedrins taking up massive cap and no production, but has the potential to be good!
