I have heard that the 2012 rep coaches have been appointed , you might say so what but the fact is the applications didnt close till today 27/5/11.
How do you appoint someone before the closing date ? The current coaches didnt get a gig either.Consider these facts and stats : Chris Bradbury, 2007 ass matts coach result semi finals ,2009 head Matts coach
result Grand Finalist ,2010 head Matts coach result Grand Finalist, 2011 head Matts Coach result 1/4 finalist , coached 50 games for 5 losses
equals 90% win rate . ...Brad Jennings 2003 ass Matts coach result PREMIERS ,2008 assSG BALL result Grand FINALISTS ,2009 ass Matts result Grand Finalist ,2010 ass Matts result Grand Finalis , 2011 ass Matts result 1/4 finalist ,coached 70 games 7 losses - 90% win rate. It seems not only can we not retain correct players but it seems we dont need coaches that can identify talent and have a winning culture.

Open for thoughts ...:?

What is your point, how many of these players have graduated thropugh the ranks.

We should expect that the new coaches would want their style through the grades, I for one am happy to wait and see the results. I saw a number of the junior rep games and have been disappointed that the finals come around, we tended to crumble.

I would say it's part of the overhaul the club are doing on the coaching system and new off field structure under Stephen Kearney. While i'm not particularly impressed with Kearney yet, he has stated that he wants to retain a lot of the juniors who go elsewhere, and also install an academy for the junior players coming through. If this includes a complete overhaul of the coaches, coaching style and systems at Harold Matthews and SG Ball then I'm all for it. If SK believes making these changes at Matts and SG Ball level will result in more of our juniors becoming future first graders then I think it's worth supporting.

Should Matt Cameron be next? I say yes.

yep, I fell the same, Matt's time has come and gone for the club..obviously, i would love to have Joe Grima or Grant Jones back but it's SK's choice and it would interesting to see who he appoints.

Sounds like they are very successful coaches. Doesn't appear to make much sense to get rid of them. Suppose the new coaches must be very very good.

I think i read somewhere that the Raiders Under 20's coach, who has done pretty well over the last few years, is available for next year.

our junior development system needs overhauling from the ground up especially in recruitment.

history says they will be rookies with no form on the board, but it's OK. it will be a rebuilding year :sarcasm:

There is no doubt that the junior rep coaches have achieved success as in their winnng percentages and done a pretty good job. The problem is that winning at junior rep level can be a two edged sword. When Matt Keating and co came through they had been a very successful Matts and SG Ball side. However, from that squad, only Matt Keating is playing in the NRL I believe. The balance is being able to develop the player with the right balance and winning a bonus. Problem is clubs put pressure on winning the 16s&18s and coaches aren't rewarded for development.
Clubs like Parramatta and Penrith shoulld always do well in junior reps as the population and kids playing rugby league are much bigger. The other problem is that there good club coaches who never get a chance to coach at junior rep level due to politics such as they aren't from the right club or from the catholic school system, and they don't want to jump through many hoops to get there. Good luck to who ever gets the gigs, whether old or new. There have been other coaches who have been replaced without explanation such as the SG Ball coach 2009, he was a good coach and well respected by the players.

Pick less big bopper Polynesians in the junior comps and we won't win as much, but the players we do have will have a better chance at stepping up to the big time.

All valid points , but the new coaches were appointed by Matt Cameron not SK ,MAYBE the success of the other coaches was putting pressure on him ??
