Can someone explain to me how you win the NFL MVP without winning the Offensive or Defensive player of the year award??

Don't get me wrong... I have nothing against Rodgers winning.... But it doesn't make sense to me that Rodgers can be considered the best player in the NFL despite not being considered the best player on offense...

It's such a dumb award.

Technically you could say Adrian Peterson is the most valuable player as we didn't make the playoffs and if he had played we would have...

It really needs to be changed to have the meaning of "player of the year". Which means JJ Watt should have won.
