With the 162nd pick in the 2015 NFL draft, the Detroit Lions select

Cameron+Artis+Payne+Auburn+v+Texas+Mk7iXwJiSv0l.jpg

RB Cameron Artis-Payne, Auburn
Joique Bell is coming off Achilles and knee surgeries, is 29 years old and hasn't reached 4.0 yards per carry average in back to back seasons. Behind him on the depth chart is Theo Riddick who is a one-dimensional passing back, Reggie Bush departed so the Lions need to add some depth to their RB stocks.

Artis-Payne is a good sized back who displays the lateral burst and flexible ankles to knife through holes with a strong plant foot to get north/south. Terrific vision to sidestep defenders, anticipate creases and shift his momentum with very little reluctance. Physical ball carrier with resilient toughness to lower his pads and barrel through contact. Won't avoid contact and runs with a chip on his shoulder. Runs balanced and looks to finish each touch. Gym rat and has worked hard to fill out frame and stay conditioned.

Average long-speed and lacks a home run gear. More of a one-speed type of runner with low twitch. Too reliant on designed play call at times and needs to better trust his instincts. Needs to consistently run behind his pads, especially between the hashes. Tough runner, but doesn?t have a heavy shoulder and lacks the body power to push the pile.

With the 163rd pick in the 2015 NFL draft, the Dallas Cowboys select

th

Lynden Trail, DE/OLB Norfolk State

As a raw athlete, Lynden Trail is eye-popping, he's exactly the type of athlete NFL teams want to mold with outstanding height & length. His 6'7 frame isn't quite maxed out at 269 pounds, and he has room to grow. On the field, Trail has played outside linebacker and defensive end, showing off his versatility in space. He dominated small school competition and showed off skills as a pass rusher, run defender and coverage backer in space. He plays with quickness, agility and length while showing the ability to go up and knock passes down at the line. Trail may also be looked at as a tight end given his athleticism and hands.

He is very raw, hasn't begun to scratch the surface of his talent, he will need a period of development but he has a ton of upside.

With the 164th pick in the 2015 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select

Josh+Harper+New+Mexico+v+Fresno+State+nPoLwMIiYIel.jpg

WR Josh Harper, Fresno State
The Broncos decide to add more toys to Manning's receiving corps here and take a flyer on a very appealing late round prospect. Harper is an intriguing athlete at 6'1 191lbs who emerged as a stronger, more disciplined player the past two seasons. Accelerates well and does a nice job mixing gears, turning on the jets with smooth strides to gain a step vertically and stretch the field. He has a quick burst off the snap and can stick his foot in the turf and explode out of his cuts to gain separation. Good hand-eye coordination to extend for the difficult reception away from his frame and shows some toughness in hanging on after absorbing the big hit. Uses his broad shoulders to effectively seal defenders away from the ball on slants.

Lean limbed with limited power, which makes him unreliable in jump-ball situations and as a blocker. Inconsistent with his timing to win at the catch-point, too often losing out to shorter defenders on 50-50 balls. Some wasted movement as a route-runner and after he catches the pass. Dances too much trying to make defenders miss with rather than burrowing his head and getting what he can. Only average balance to run through arm tackles.

With the 165th pick in the 2015 NFL draft, the Indianapolis Colts select

alani-fua-ncaa-football-georgia-tech-brigham-young.jpg

Alani Fua, LB BYU

If teams want a big, scheme versatile linebacker, Alani Fua is their guy. He lined up all over the BYU defence and can work as an inside or outside linebacker with pass rush impact. On film, he looks like a freak athlete, even if his combine numbers weren't eye opening. He can play well in coverage and keeps good position in zone. There's no wasted space with Fua, regardless of whether he's taking on the run, blitzing or playing in coverage. He has the frame to carry more weight.

Not having one true position will be an issue for many teams. Fua's power is average and will have to improve for him to effectively take on blockers in the NFL. He hasn't had a chance to develop great technique or instincts because he's moved around the field so much.

It's a hard one... I think I'd be pretty happy with the way it turned out... We have that many needs that it's hard to miss for us...

Maybe with Shane Ray falling perhaps I'd be willing to trade back in the the very late first round to get him or Gregory. I think with us picking at 3rd in the second round we won't need to give up a whole lot to get back in to the first.

Yeah you guys did really well to get Kevin White in the 4th round ;-)

Looking at what came up:

Rd 1. Amari Cooper - Perfect pick. Fills a massive need.

Rd 2. Erik Armstead - Very happy with this pick. I highly doubt he would go here, another big need. Has potential to be great. Shane Ray or Randy Gregory could well end up in this spot though.

Rd 3. PJ Williams - Happy again. Has a few flags but has a high ceiling. Exactly the type of guy we should be taking at this point.

Rd 4. Kevin White - Too deep for me... The position is an area where we need a massive influx of youth so he fits the bill.

Rd 5. Tyrus Thompson - once again too deep for me but the position is an area where we could look at bringing some youth into.

Dallas Cowboys Draft Picks

1 RB Melvin Gordon, Wisconsin
2 CB Quinten Rollins, Miami
3 DT Michael Bennett, Ohio State
4 FS Derron Smith, Fresno State
5 DE/OLB Lynden Trail, Norfolk State

I do like the first three, though I am not sure if we will go with a RB in the 1st round. My feeling is that we could get one in the 2nd round.

As for rounds 4 and 5 my feeling is that we could be looking at the OL and a WR/KR returner there

If they don't trade up I think Agholor might be the play. I have a feeling the DB class will fall a little with a WR rush
