Agree with both of you, i don't like the hire at all or understand their infatuation with him.

& we lose Wade + look like promoting our DB's coach to DC :(o_O

He played for CU and he's a mate of Matt Russell. Nuff said! Other than that, he steered the Dolphins to 30th in the league in defence. Obviously well credentialed...

Wade Phillips to the raiders as DC is the current rumour
HOLY MOLY, that would be an astoundingly great hire for blackjack
I'd absolutely love it if he signed with us... we have some nice individual pieces in Mack, Irvin, Aldon Smith who he could work with...

Unfortunately for us I think it's almost certain he will end up as DC of the Rams...

We are gonna be stuck with Ken Norton Jr another season FFS...

I'm hoping that's who we're waiting for

A Wolf/Shanahan combo works for me
If it's Shanahan than you know for sure they are going to he drafting a QB at #2 overall....

No way he takes over a team with Kaep and Gabbert as the QB.

Hmmm.... so McDaniels and Shanahan will end up with only the 49ers job to compete for...

I reckon keep an eye on the Colts... imagine what either of those 2 could do with Andrew Luck.

Great hire by them... I'll be interested to see what Phillips dreams up blitz wise on the edges with the type of pressure that BEAST in the middle Aaron Donald will give him.

You saw what he could do with Malik Jackson and co in the middle with Denver... Donald is a whole different level IMO...

Best defensive player in the league not named JJ Watt... and this is from a Khalil Mack fan...

Yeah that's a really good hire if he goes there. The best of the lot IMO
If they can get a competent GM, in 2-3 years they'll be alright

Excellent hire if he accepts, but he has a big job ahead of him SF is a mess right now

What do you want at #2 AB? Jonathan Allen/Myles Garrett? QB? Somebody else?

I like Cleveland's idea... trade down... gather picks...

Mind you... you gotta find a willing dance partner.

I actuually think the 49ers should make a serious play for Tony Romo or Phillip Rivers(If he's REALLY available).

I think they could get Romo without having to give up a high pick... considering how big his salary is and his injury history.

Rivers would be trickier.... you would have to give up #2... but it would be worth it IMO...

I really like Allen but I'm not a fan of Garrett, I think he's pretty overrated. He shows flashes but disappears for long stretches, watch the tape against Alabama, both Cam Robinson and O.J. Howard neutralised him pretty comfortably. I like Barnett better.

At this stage I want Foster or Allen at #2 if we can't trade back

If you believe the reports the Browns love Garrett so you may not have to worry about SF taking him

No need for Malik Hooker/Jamal Adams?

I don't think Garrett is overrated. He's been playing injured all season and still producing. He can dominate both the run and pass and will get better as time goes on (provided there's no long term injury concerns). Might only see flashes in his first season, but I think like Clowney, when it clicks - look out.

Having said that I'm also a fan of Barnett, and don't think a team could miss by picking either him or Garrett.

My fear though is that we're going to take a QB. I'm not overly thrilled about the QB class this year (looks much stronger next year) and would rather we built up our defense and strengthened our O-Line before throwing a rookie QB into the hot seat where he's more likely to fail without adequate support around him.
