Surely a World Cup year would go close. But there wouldn't have been more teams. The addition of the South American sides bumped that up a bit.

Was a good year for international footy. The results were a bit one sided at times but there were some genuine surprises too.

Hopefully we have an outstanding World Cup next year and back that up with even bigger numbers than above.

I've made it my lifelong dream to see a year with 10 Kangaroos matches now lol

Fantastic stuff!
Agree it's fantastic stuff.

Would love to get excerpts/information releases of each league's struggle with existing and developing. It would be a tell tale insight for sure. This is where an investigative journalist employed by the rugby league would be a great way of leading into a dossier exposing and being the topic for educated discourse for the benefit of sporting independence and natural uninhibited growth. Rugby league needs to show & convey in a big way what has been happening as people will ask questions as to its validity given the establishment based indoctrination of the slower and cumbersome version of rugby union.

At the moment most people see the fact that RU seems more accepted-(hegemonic/establishment influences at play) is the way things are. Though as we now know popular culture has been orchestrated/manipulated via the influential scholastic systems of the world. We know this "popularity" is not genuine & largely coerced from the top end of town. This should be rugby league's next significant step: to expose this bigotry in a way which is logical and demonstrative to all.

It would be interesting to list number of internationals by year

One major fact coming out of the Four Nations tournament was the remarkable 18all draw result between Scotland Brave hearts & New Zealand Kiwis.

This game played in northern England, out rated the England V Sth African RU test played on the same day in England on free to air television. (BBC)

Very significant figures and shows rugby league's attractiveness to the wider public audience compared to that of rugby union.

This should be seen as a genuine plus for rugby league and its potential popularity in waiting.
