Story: http://leagueunlimited.com/news/28689-nrl-match-review-round-18/

Just two charges came out of the weekend's NRL round, with North Queensland facing the loss of two players in Round 20 and beyond.

Monday | Raiders v Cowboys

Cowboys' winger Kyle Feldt will miss three matches after being hit with a Grade 3 Shoulder Charge offence on Jarrod Croker in the final minute of his side's loss to the Raiders. The base penalty of 500 points is reduced to 375 on an early plea. If he unsuccessfully fights the charge he could miss 5 weeks.

Feldt's teammate Lachlan Coote is facing a week out for contact with referee Grant Atkins in the 46th minute - a Grade 1 Contrary Conduct - Contact with Match Official charge which carries a 125 base penalty. Coote has 20% loading for prior non-similar offences in the last two years, so an early plea only reduces the penalty to 112 points. With 150 points the max for this charge if he contests unsuccessfully, Coote will miss one match either way.
There were no charges from the first three matches of Round 18.

That shoulder charge was outrageous, can't believe the officials completely missed it.

Didn't even have the ball.

I can't believe it was missed. Should've been a send off. Feldt's lucky to only miss 3, assuming he takes the early plea.

It was pretty bad.

It was obvious that coote was going to cop a charge. They dont want players touching the refs when "discussing" decisions. Even if it was just a friendly pat on the back

ORIGIN MATCH REVIEW: Game III
LeagueUnlimited Media | July 14 2016 8:00AM

A substantial charge sheet from the closing game of the 2016 Origin series will see three players miss at least one game of NRL.

Origin III | NSW v QLD

Queensland centre and South Sydney star Greg Inglis could miss as many as four matches after being hit with a Grade 2 Shoulder Charge offence, after using his shoulder to brace for impact with NSW & Dragons centre Josh Dugan in the 48th minute of Queensland's 18-14 loss. The impact reportedly shattered Dugan's jaw.

The base penalty of 350 points attracts loading for Inglis who has a non-similar prior offence in the last two seasons. As a result an early plea would see him miss three matches (315) while an unsuccessful judiciary trip would see him miss four (420).

NSW and Cronulla prop Andrew Fifita's sin-binning will see him miss a week of action after being issued a Grade 1 Contrary Conduct charge for steaming in to defend Blues' teammate Matt Moylan after a Gavin Cooper try in the 51st minute. Similar to Inglis, Fifita has loading which means the base penalty of 125 points only reduces to 112 points on an early plea (1 week). An unsuccessful judiciary trip would also see him miss a week (150 points).

Outgoing Queensland & Brisbane lock Corey Parker will miss one match as well, after being hit with a Grade 2 Dangerous Contact (Head/Neck) charge from a 72nd minute "Crusher tackle" on NSW fullback James Tedesco. His cleanskin record sees the 250 point base penalty reduced to 187 points, with an early plea only worth 125 points. Either way he is likely to miss the Broncos' clash with the Rabbitohs on Saturday.

Wow that's harsh on Inglis. I mean he just turned to chase the kick, it shouldn't have even been a penalty.

It was a penalty, Dugan's jaw shattered, he was placed on report and the MRC issued a Grade 2 Charge.

AND he pleaded guilty. How is it harsh?

Anyone remember the penalty Kade Snowden copped when he broke Ray Thompson's jaw with a 'shoulder charge"??

If someone is injured as the result of an illegal act then yes, it should be a penalty every day.

Inglis' act in last night's game wasn't legal, no matter what your QLD bias puts forward.

So turning to chase a kick is illegal now?

skeepe. Mate.

  • It was a shoulder charge
  • The referee and Bunker officials agreed it was a shoulder charge
  • A penalty was blown.
  • Inglis was put on report.
  • The match review committee issued a Grade 2 shoulder charge offence as a result
  • and the kicker - Inglis pleaded guilty.
Explain it away however you like, but it's a shoulder charge.

Lol @ turning to chase a kick. He was being lazy and instead of finishing the tackle after he kicked the ball he just dropped the shoulder into him instead.

If it was Jarrod "Best Young Centre In The Game" Croker that had his jaw broken you would be calling for Inglis to be banned for life

Kyle Feldt was "just bracing for impact" too, right?

Snowden was hit with a grade 4 charge, which could have seen him miss up to 9 weeks if found guilty. He took the early guilty plea and copped 7 weeks.
