By the letter of the law it probably was a try.

But... the law is f**king wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong as that's just not a try.

I'd be filthy too if i was a Dragons fan. That just plain sucks and they'll probably fix the rule midweek.

From the NRL rules:
Knock-ons and Forward Passes

Deliberate 1. A player shall be penalised if he deliberately knocks on or passes forward.

Accidental 2. If, after knocking-on accidentally, the player knocking-on regains or kicks the ball before it touches the ground, a goal post, cross bar or an opponent, then play shall be allowed to proceed. Otherwise play shall stop and a scrum shall be formed except after the fifth play-the-ball.

I can remember Jarryd Hayne deliberately knocking a ball forward over the fullback's head when collecting a chip kick. It was correctly penalised.

How can you possibly know a players intent?. You cant know what a player is thinking unless he announces it before he does it.

The Jarryd Hayne one somebody mentioned was obviously deliberate, he batted it over a defender. This one was pretty obviously unintentional...

When has it ever happened before?

So you want to change a rule that has probably never happened in the last 10 years for a try.

Next time someone juggles a pass, you are calling a knock-on?

And if done right, mine would look unintentional as well. Patten just told every NRL player that they are free to hit the ball over the opposition's heads as long as they make it look unintentional.

It sets a precedent to 'accidentally' throw it over a player's head, to yourself. It's not that f**king hard to understand

Well mate, all I can say is I look forward to watching you pull it off in the NRL over the coming weeks....

So unintentional forward passes should not and wont be pulled up from now on. Gotcha

The pass was backwards. The rebound off his other hand was unintentionally propelled forward. How is that so hard to understand? There was no intentional or unintentional forward pass at all.
