Oh how I hate State of Origin these days. I couldn't give a shit whether NSW lose 2-1 or 3-0. We needed Moylan..

Agree. The leg up some teams get during origin period is BS considering how tight the comp is with teams playing for top 4 and top 8 spots.

The Sharks really have nothing to lose this game. Win and unearth some untried talent and bolster the 1st Grade squad or lose and it doesn't really matter because 5 stars are out. A really exciting game for Sharks fans to watch.

Tyrone Peachey has been dropped to the Intrust Super Premiership who is playing Norths this afternoon.

Dylan Edwards is not playing, which suggests he will debut tomorrow.

Smith has supposedly been given fullback ahead of Edwards, Hardaker and DWZ. We deserve to get pumped for putting the 5th best fullback at the club in ahead of 3 better fit options.

Today is the day we will confirm we are the real deal.

Losing 5 SOO players & knowing it's going to be tough, we will be switched on.

Lookout Penrith in that case!

Sharks dont prove anything today in regards to being the real deal. It has already been proven. The winning streak and some of the teams they have beaten prove them to be a genuine premiership threat regardless of today.

Beating a poor Panthers side that has been torn apart by poor coaching decisions, origin and injuries wouldnt be nearly as impressive as what they have already done. The only thing certain today is Panthers will miss 30+ tackles. Concede several soft tries and make 10+ errors (most in own half) to keep the pressure on themselves. If anything Sharks fans might be embarrassed by a small win against a side that played so shit.

A patient team like Sharks will let Panthers beat themselves.

The Storm, Broncos and Cowboys have all fallen to mid-table or lower sides when having large Origin contingents out. The Sharks will suffer the same fate today. It won't hurt their chances of winning the comp one shred.

Sharks still have a better 17 today. Panthers 17 isnt exactly an established one with an advantage of atleast being familiar.

Cleary has a handful of games.
Cartwright is playing out of position.
Smith hasnt played since Moylan returned from injury.
Hardaker has one NRL match under his belt.
Someone will be playing out of position to replace Peachey after being axed.
Edwards will be on debut and out of position on the wing.

Our 1 to 7 is a an absolute mess. I dont see them having an advantage over the Sharks. Sharks are depleted through Origin. But we arent in a better position then them to take advantage.

First Sunday 4pm game at Pepper this year. Should still get a decent crowd in. Penrith to win 26-18. A big start will be key here, even though we may just blow it too.

Cleary has vindicated the decision to play him in first grade through a series of outstanding performances.
Cartwright is the most dangerous ball player in the game.
Smith has earned his chance through outstanding performances in NSW Cup.
Hardaker won the Man of Steel award.
Peachey being dropped reinforces the club's policy on disciplinary matters, unlike some other clubs who only act if it doesn't disadvantage them on-field.
Like Smith, Edwards has earned his chance in reserves.

How many games worth of experience has Griffin pushed out of the club? Elijah Taylor, Jamie Soward and

Im not saying those players don't deserve the chances they have gotten... except for Smith. He is a proven failure and is the 5th best fullback at the club behind Moylan, DWZ, Hardaker and Edwards.

Im saying that the backline is a mess:

1. Smith - reserve grade centre. 5th best fullback at the club and is expected to push 3 better fullbacks out of the position. He may play fullback and swap with Hardaker in the lineup... but it doesnt fix much at all.
2. Edwards - NSW Cup fullback... could go either way in his first grade debut
3. Blake - everyone loves to hate him
4. Hardaker - super league fullback in his second NRL match
5. Dwz - only guy who is and always has been part of our full strength backline
6. Cartwright - he's a freak but not a half.
7. Cleary - he's a freak but still inexperienced

That 1/6/7 is hardly one that you would back to be able to control a game. Compare that to our expected full strength lineup in the opening month:

1. Moylan
2. Mansour
3. Hiku
4. Whare
5. Dwz
6. Soward / TMM
7. Wallace / Soward

Our side isnt in a great position to take advantage of depleted sides because our side is just as depleted and has been chopped and changed all year. Origin is making those changes a bit worse this week.

Sharks are missing 5 origin players. But still have more consistency in the remainder of their squad.
