Some poor scheduling going on! A lack of business acumen being displayed by the organisers of this world cup. Despite this it will be a great success.

Surely it is understandable that a game scheduled for a location months in advance cannot just be moved because of results that have gone in favour one one team ? First one to say I've loved the passion and support of the PNG people .....but planning has to outweigh these two attributes.

Agree. Like stated poor business acumen in the planning stages. Apparently the league hired an AFL person who quit a month or two b4 the tournament? A quarter final in PNG would have worked well.

It will be played in front of 2k poms with and English referee. Nassive chance blown.

which to some on here means the automatic cancellation of any development work in the USA and any other country that will be potentially pumped at a future RLWC.

No, development work, implementation of quality coaching programs and a premier first grade competition is exactly what is needed at this point in time. The general consensus around here is that by them and others just playing more games against each other is magically going to turn into competitive outfits.

Agree with you on the first development, coaching and competition points. Bottom line is it will take time, funds and effort. PNG played 14 World Cup games during the period 1985 to 1992 ......and won one game (v NZ ...1986). Look at them now !

After the last world cup outing, PNG took some spanking, it was after that when the PNG Hunters program was introduced.
Although we're not there at that elite level where we have a pool of players playing in the NRL or SL on regular basis, I still believe that we will be competitive for 80mins
