its not even close to a record
opening rounds aggregate attendances since 2005
2005 159,614
2006 161,713
2007 185,085
2008 183,627
2009 168,483
2010 165,554
2011 200,312
2012 149,878
2013 158,678
2014 126,590
2015 142,124
2016 117,155
2017 100,969

wildly varying figures there , with 2017 around half of 2011
weather & venue /match up choices are a big factor
but the opening round in recent years has been an amitigated disaster compared to only half a decade or so before

True.
But this year's double header means we only get 7 crowds.

150K wouldn't be a record but it'd be a nice turn around after the past few years. Thats without a broncos home game which I'm assuming has boosted a lot of those bigger years.

Obviously 1 week doesn't mean much but it would be nice to start the season on a real positive note.

no
we just divide the double header crowd to get 8 attendances
we're not deviding the total among 7 , when 8 games are being played

I know you and your fellow petty squabblers of the CW thread have been over this a million times.

It is a gross over simplification to just say "divide the number by 7" just as it would be to say "divide the number by 8".

Not everything is black and white little friend.

Do you not acknowledge that context is important in assessing crowd figures? Or do you not acknowledge that a week 1 double header in a brand new venue, in a city without a team, is an interesting variable from an analytical stand point?

sure theres variables , but when you're looking at cold figures
its 8 games , a total aggregate attendance
& if you're after an average for the round , its divided by 8

Well it is rugby league season, let the rains begin....

I'm definitely not assuming we'll get 150K, I always assume that we'll fall short of optimistic predictions. If we did hit that number it would be awesome though.

mostly sunny & 31 in Perth for Saturday
so good conditions for the double header

Makes a change! Still time for it to turn around and be the usual storm and rain we seem to get every game lol

Bizarre they’ve done no marketing in the weekend papers given these are the most read ones by a long way. Not sure if there’s been any ads on Ch9 perth as I don’t watch much fta.

Good conditions for a big crowd? If its sub 40000 its a disappointment . If its low, blame poor marketing and high ticket pricing.

Stallion ticket prices for Chelsea v perth glory exhibition match at Optus stadium

$49, $100, $121,$161,$202

Nrl game is very cheap in comparison

$20,$45,$55,$90

How many $20 tickets are up for sale. And are they adult tickets at $20?

Tickets for the Perth double header are almost completely sold out. $90 tix have gone save for a handful of resell returns. $55 are on limited supply, VIP packages are completely gone. On Thursday Optus Stadium were claiming 47000 had already gone. Looks likely to be sold out before the weekend.

Lets hope so . We have all heard similar reports leading into other games and been dissappointed with the actual turnout . So I hope its on the money!

I can tell you this much, two days ago when I bought my tickets you could select them from the stadium map to pick your location. Ticketmaster have disabled the interactive map and are now only offering a "best ticket for best price" search function.

No doubt we will see what that means on Saturday. Hope it's a full house!

I'm struggling to believe those figures because the top tier hasn't been open for sale, which as stated before would be at least 1/3 capacity of the stadium. So does this mean they have no intention of opening the entire stadium, because surely if the available tickets are almost sold a week out you would open the other areas.

Yes. That's what I'm saying. Cold figures without regard for mitigating factors are for simpletons. You're kind of proving my point.
