I know old Bears fans will be completely against it but couldn't Manly keep pushing out into the North Shore and target the new younger fans who've never seen the Bears play?
It doesn't look like the Bears will be reentering the NRL anytime soon and you can't leave the North shore area with a team.

The critical and crucial difference is the Sydney club competition rose to national notoriety as a result of the tv exposure of the 70s, 80's and early 90s. This was not the case for the clubs you refer to. Not too say their is no respect from myself, however the reality is the Sydney clubs became household names and had widespread recognition as a result of this unprecedented tv exposure. That's why the Sydney brands are so dynamic and should be respected at all costs. It’s a market and established cultural advantage on other codes. It matters !

Different scenario. The expansion clubs are building on what the established Sydney clubs have created. Titans are a geographically and strategic club with the 3rd largest junior base in the NRL.

The AFL was always going to start on the 3rd week of the NRL and they start their season with a Thursday night blockbuster at the MCG every year now, which is straight across the road from AAMI Park. To have the Storm playing at the same time is just plain stupid, this game should of been round 2 before the AFL started, this was the week that the Storm needed to be playing away because they wont even get a mention in the media this week down there.

Good point! I am all for that. If the Titans don't work out under their new management (given a fair go of course) then I would prefer to see the licence be used for Brisbane 2 anyway.

Were they? Broke, 10 - 12k fans, homeless, even before SL they weren't setting the world on fire. The game is bigger now than when the bears were in.
