How good would Newcastle game at 7pm and NQ game at 9pm(8pm qtime ) be tonight ..

Both live ..

7pm in Newcastle would have stopped myself and my mate attending with our kids. 6pm we are attending for sure. And thats whats happening. The crowd will tell the story if Newcastle like or dislike that timeslot.

It's a much better time for families to attend. Not to mention there is considerably less traffic in Newcastle compared to Sydney at that time.

There will be at least 8K Eels fans there.

There were at least 8k Dogs fans last time I went to that ground about 5-6 yrs ago. Panthers got the chocolates on the back of some very loud crowd support. It's that main grandstand on the Eastern side that just seems to really amp the loudness of the crowd.

That makes me what to change my tip to the Panthers. It's a bloody noise ground at capacity.
But a goodly number of them will be Parra supporters. At least 30% going on previous matches. Still, this ought to demonstrate to the NRL the absolute folly of not holding this game last season, a year both clubs made the finals.

The highway an hour north of Townsville is cut off by flood water, there will be some effect on the crowd I’d say.

Should rate well on top of the good crowd. Surely it's a big win for the NRL all round.

Penrith v Parra is officially a sell out. Crowd could be anywhere between 19-22K. Not sure on current capacity.
The last game at this ground, round 25 last year against the Dragons, got just on 19,000 and it wasn't a sellout and there appeared to be room for quite a few more. It'll be closer to 22 I suspect. Depends how many limited game members turn up. This game in 2010 had 22,582 on a Saturday, which is the ground record.

It won't
An opening round with an old rival, in good conditions, with a much stronger squad will be the main factors

6pm Friday is a dog of a time for most people

That crowd was 18,800 last year. 20,500 is the capacity I think. Which works there was atleast 1k seats left for that game

Isn’t there a large amount of tickets sold already?

If Friday 6pm is to be persisted with, it’s got to be targeted at the right venues. Let’s hope we can get it right.
