The Knights are also virtually guaranteed a crowd of around 30k for any finals match held in Newcastle. Which is more than any combination of Panthers, Roosters, Sharks and Manly could get in a Week 1 and Week 2 finals match.

Eels v Tigers is a finals match I would like to see. Both teams haven't had much recent success so fans of these teams will flock to a finals match between them.

I can't see any evidence to support that.

Sep 5th 1998 Newcastle 15 Sydney City 26 26,482
Aug 5th 2000 Newcastle 30 Melbourne 16 20,597
Sep 8th 2001 Newcastle 40 Sydney 6 22,061
Sep 14th 2002 Newcastle 22 St George Illawarra 26 21,051
Sep 8th 2006 Newcastle 25 Manly Warringah 18 23,752

Granted, none are in the current era with the redeveloped venue but I couldn't see how 30k is a guarantee given the last time they got near that was v Canterbury in 2012 (late season match from memory)

Tbh I’d like to see tigers versus anybody in the finals haha but I do agree that’d be a big drawing game!

The poor period currently being experienced would see Knights fans sell out a home final.

I don't see any evidence to support that sorry. 25-28k maybe, not 30k.
Their 24.5k round 25 crowd when running poorly would all but confirm a 30k+ final for me.

In fact if they finished 1st or 2nd, I would not be surprised if they snapped up the tickets in quick fashion, similar to 2016 Raiders v Sharks.

Apparently there was an accident outside the stadium, and people have been trapped outside. That was according to channel 9.
