One of the great ironies of this game is that you can reach first position while in the grip of an injury crisis, but hit the wall once the injured players start to come back. We have only two players remaining to come back this year (not counting Luai who seems like being out for a while and won't make the side anyway unless there are further injuries), and DWZ might be back for this, we sure need him. I'm sure the side will turn up for this, we start to look very vulnerable indeed if we can't get past Manly here. They'll be soul searching as well, and I'm expecting trench warfare.

Hardest game of the round to tip imo.

Manly by 1 only because of home ground + bounce back factor.

Both teams need to bounce back but we certainly have more of a reason to. Manly's season is over. We really should win this. Which means we probably won't.

One of them will bounce and the other will slip further into the mire.
It will either be a high scoring match or a low scoring mistakathon.

Panthers to win and win well if they are serious about getting their season back on track.

Cant imagine Manly being that poor at home twice in a row. Hard to believe Penrith could be only 1 win off 9th if they lose this. That should be enough motivation in iself. Panthers by 10.

Hard to tip this one.
If we play anything like we did at Brisbane then i don't like our chances.
Seeing that one of these teams will bounce back, surly Penrith will be more desperate to secure this important win.

Penrith by 8

I'll go by the 2nd half form V Broncos, and tip a 8 point win for us. There will be no way we play like that again in the first half. And even if we do lose this,we will still be in good stead for a finals berth, albeit no chance for a top 4 spot.

Quite a few teams have made Grand Finals and Prelim Finals after conceding 50+ in a season. That would be progress for Penrith after back to back Semi Final exits.

That said, about the 50 points thing.. it's kind of funny that the Knights won the comp in 2001 even though they had a 49-30 loss to Cronulla during that season. If the Sharks had kicked 2 field goals instead of 1 in that game, then the Knights obviously wouldn't have beat the Eels in the GF that year, haha...

The roosters also conceded 48 against Melbourne the following year and won the GF. Melbourne scored 9 tries that day but only kicked 6 goals so yes, the 50 point thing is somewhat a fluke statistic.
