and then knowing the NRL a prelim against their Grand Final
I'm all for a bit of cynicism but this is just abject stupidity. On what planet will the NRL schedule a prelim at 2:30pm on a Saturday?

The weekend's scheduling if the NRL were smart:

Part 1:

They should've switched Storm v Cowboys to Saturday to avoid a 5-day turn-around, then schedule the storm's week one game at Saturday 5:40 pm to avoid both the AFL and a 6 day turn-around.

Then move Gold Coast v St George to Friday 6pm (because no one cares about the spoon bowl).

Next, move Parra v Manly to Thursday because it will get 25k regardless of the timslot (as proven by the ticketek sales for Friday at 6 pm).

Finally, move Souths v Roosters to Friday night when it would get upwards of 30k.

Part 2:

Switch Tigers v Sharks with Knights v Panthers, because even people who would buy tickets to the Tigers game can't watch it.

Then, leave Broncos v Bulldogs and Raiders v Warriors as they are.

If this was the case, my crowd predictions would be:

Thu: Parra v Manly 25k
Fri 6pm: Gold Coast v Dragons 8k
Fri 8pm: Souths v Roosters 35k
Sat 3pm: Raiders v NZ 17k
Sat 5:30pm: Bulldogs v Broncos 12k
Sat 7:30pm: Storm v Cowboys 15k
Sun 2pm: Panthers v Knights 13k
Sun 4pm: Tigers v Sharks 20k

It just requires a bit of thought
