It's good weather , good rivalry, reasonable ticket prices: Should be decent crowd. Anything over 35000 is a pass. Let's hope the fans aim up! The players will!

precisely - this is why suggestions last week that the WT-Sharks game should move from Leichhardt to Bankwest were silly.

Depends what the alternative is. If in this case its the 80k ANZ then you wouldnt move it from Bankwest, but moving the Tigers game to a state of the art 30k stadium isnt silly at all, unless your still stuck in the 1980's mentality of the game.

Two sets of fans had a ball and the Rugby League community celebrated.

Some guy in the world’s most remote city thought it was a bit lame.

Some people outside of Sydney do not understand /appreciate the territorial tribalism with Sydney rugby league club fans and even players . It matters and is appreciated by those that are culturally respectful. The others see it as something not relevant . That's their mistake . Not the fans. The tribalism and territorial rivalry is a very important part of this great competition. And Australia's largest city is only getting bigger.

In 2016 the Sharks v Cowboys qualifying semi final drew 36,717 at Allianz/SFS.Not many Cowboy's supporters naturally.
Thus I'd be extremely disappointed if tonight's Roosters v Rabbits, didn't get 30,000 plus, even though it's not an elimination match.
That was a preliminary final, still a great crowd but not at all a week one game.

I’m excited for tonight taking a group of six, should hopefully be a decent crowd. I’m glad they went with this for Friday night. Something about Friday night at sfs/scg after a week of work. And making sure Melbourne doesn’t clash with afl and a full bankwest on Sunday. Should be good for week 1. How’s brookvale oval selling should be a sell out by now you’d think.

Actually Honolulu is the the remotest city :)
It was fun to watch, but the w**king over it like it was some incredible sporting experience was lame. It was 19k people in a sht ground with commentators waxing lyrical who are stuck in the 80's.But when your sights are so low I guess it was amazing. Its another example of how mired the game is and why after a hundred years it sits where it sits despite being one of the best contact sports to play and watch in the world.

A sold out Bankwest this weekend, now that is going to be epic to watch and be at.

Blue skies in Sydney. Hope a few CBD workers decide to head to the SCG after work to push the crowd closer to 35K.

You can do both. Both experiences can be great. You can honour the past while moving into the future.

Every sport in the world has its old time grounds and certain quirks that fans adore. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. It holds charm.

Not everything has to be shiny and new. Heritage has its mystique and value.

True but then you get the stuck in the pasts waxing on about how the game needs suburban grounds and that somehow they are going to be relevant and save the game in the future. Look at what the new chairman has just come out with! As one offs for special occasions they can work IF they have everything going in their favour. As week to week venues for a billion $ sport they are very problematic.

That sums up most english cricket grounds to be fair!

That's great. This is what is a major part of a fantastic evening of sport. The pre-match experience. I've spent many a pre-match in any number of pubs on the way up from Central station over the years, for all sorts of sports, except f**king AFL of course.

Lol. I would not watch a glorified training run either! Rugby-league or soccer:Yes. But definitely not a training run!
