So the fans get punished because the team are shit? Isn’t having to sit through three spoons enough punishment?

And they told us Friday 6pm is rating well, shouldn’t they be giving us Saturday 530 then?
I'm a Souths fan. Ken oath the fans get punished for the team being shit.

Shouldn't we be due some "leaks" about the draw over the next few days before its released ?
You would think so, probably tomorrow I would say given it's scheduled for a Thursday release. In terms of other leaks the only one I've seen is the claim in the Tele gossip column that Canterbury are away to Manly at Brookvale in Round 8 (a week before magic round), and that there'll be no return match at ANZ.

That probably wouldn't have bothered either club not playing each other twice up until last week. Now with Des back they could have milked that for a decent crowd.

Friday 6pm games. Most clubs only ended up with 1 or 2 games. Warriors should play more, their crowds were not significantly negatively impacted due to time difference. Within this there was some games that should have been Sunday games like Sharks v Dragons and Souths v Bulldogs.

Warriors 5
Knights 4
Roosters 1
Dogs 1
Sharks 2
Storm 1
Manly 2
eels 1
Raiders 2
Cowboys 2
Panthers 1
Souths 1

Broncos 0
Titans 0
Dragons 0
Wests 0

Possibly, but Manly at ANZ isn't really a huge crowd-puller anyway. Last time we got a meaningful crowd there against them was a QF in 2012 (36k). Otherwise it's sub-20k normally, most recently sub 10k in 2017.

Surely its not tough if you finish work at 5pm and can go straight to the game? Don't we have one of the biggest single male under 30 demographics of any sport? Id have thought this a perfect time spot to head straight from work with mates for beers, game, more beers. I know that'd be what I was doing if I was 25!

I feel robbed as it is 4pm KO in WA so I only get 6 live games I can watch for my Foxtel subscription lol.

Finish work covered in cement or paint or grease?...
Maybe they wear a suit or some type of shit uniform .

Straight to the game ya reckon?

Even if they can make it there on time I’d say most single blokes would rather go home & have a shower first.

Anyway , you don’t go to games so you wouldn’t have a clue.

Puts to bed the myth that they get a favourable draw.
How so? Fans don't like a time slot and so the players dont benefit from the constant 7 or 8 day turnarounds?

Broncos tend to get Thursday games after a weekend where they didnt play or after a prebious Thursday game.

Giving them nice consistent turnarounds and very rarely a 5 day turnaround.

I understood the NRL had reduced 5-day turnarounds to very few last year?

Anyway, to fully bust the myth - Broncos turnarounds this year were:

2 nine day turnarounds
3 eight day turnarounds
7 seven day turnaround
7 six day turnarounds
1 five day turnaround

Looks like a fairly common thread across other clubs. Roosters for example:

1 eleven day turnaround (post-anzac day)
2 nine day turn arounds
2 eight day turnarounds
4 seven day turnarounds
12 six day turnarounds
0 five day turnarounds

Basically it looks like most clubs get around five longer breaks (eight days or more), 14-15 six or seven dayers, and in Brisbane's case, they even had one five-day turnaround. It's not an exact science and some clubs will fall outside it, but it seems common enough.

In previous years there's no doubt Brisbane benefited from being constantly Thu/Fri nights but there's no doubt that changed a fair bit last (this) year.

Heres the RLPA's piece on reduced 5-day turnarounds: https://www.rlpa.com.au/five-day-turnarounds-reduced-2018/

So
What if you’re working on the other side of Sydney
Covered in shit and smell like a Pom?

You will go home first

You cant get home, showered and to the ground in 3 hours? Geez who'd want to live in Sydney? Sounds to me like yet more pathetic excuses for fans not to go to games unless everything is stacked in their favour. Most clubs only got 1 or 2 Friday 6pm games, its not like they are being asked to do it every Friday! once every 52 weeks is not that hard really if you're motivated. In fact given it is actually a great time to take the kids to a game Id have thought fans with kids would try even harder to get there.

One year of a draw that is almost(but not quite) in line with the rest of the NRL is hardly going to change the perception of favouritism.
