First wave of trials kicking off this weekend
Parramatta v Canberra
Souths v Cronulla
Roosters had a trial a couple of weeks ago, I think Manly but not sure and don't know the results unfortunately
Should be a few trial games being organised ahead of the season kickoff
They've been happening since early December haven't they?
Saw a bunch be cancelled/postponed prior to Christmas due to weather
Some draws would be nice
Comp starts in a month
They didn't come out until Jan 30 last year lol
I know clubs don't even have a draft draw, well they didn't before Xmas anyway. I know one club found out who their round 1 opponent is but no venue day or time. And its a game where that may include multiple hours traveling time if they are away.
NSWRL re-opens tomorrow I believe. No doubt we'll start hearing more end of this/early next week
Souths have a trial this weekend: https://www.rabbitohs.com.au/news/2...eature-in-first-junior-representative-trials/
Bits of the draws are coming out.
Central Coast have their rounds 1-9 games
Round 1 v Parramatta (Home)
Round 2 v Victoria (Away)
Round 3 v Wests (Home)
Round 4 v Souths (Home)
Round 5 v Syd Roosters (Away)
Round 6 v Canterbury (Home)
Round 7 v Newcastle (Away)
Round 8 v Manly (Away)
Round 9 v Balmain (Away)
Manly play Victoria round 1 in Melbourne
Eels have a couple more trials to come
Cronulla v Central Coast (HM) @ Sharks Academy 10.30am Saturday
Cronulla v Central Coast (SG Ball) @ Sharks Academy 12pm Saturday
Couple of Trial matches this Friday Night
Souths v Balmain @ Erskineville Oval
Illawarra v Norths in the gong. Not sure of venue
Draws came out to clubs today. I have had a quick look
Harold Matts is bizarre with 14 of the 15 teams getting byes. Some rounds there are three teams with byes.
Makes sense to me - in previous years it was one bye per round which meant 2/3rds of the clubs got a guaranteed two points and therefore a leg-up.
The SG Ball draw is exactly like that. 1 bye per round
Interesting - those draws have always been relatively aligned in past years, sounds like that won't be as common in 2019.
Although I do wonder if Matts might be phased out in the same way Connell Cup was in QLD.
