It's funny how the LU meme for years was stick was robbing Jack of origin by playing him in at fullback/5/8th and not centre and now he's not strong enough to be a centre.

That's absolute nonsense as an aside. One of the most common ways the raiders score is through either Jack breaking tackles on the edge or teams over commiting on Jack and opening up gaps for other players.

His positioning was poor in defence no raiders fan is going to argue that. He should be playing 5/8th anyway. I think he would compliment Cleary quite well.

But again the problem was upfront. Who plays centre and who plays in the halves doesn't matter if we are losing yardage so badly. Unless people expect Cleary to kick a 40/20 every set we need the forwards to actually stop Queensland strolling down the field and to gain field position for the nsw attacking players..

Still think he has the tools to be a quality centre but obviously needs the practice beforehand.

Definitely had a poor series.

When did Jake Trbojevic morph into Aidan Tolman? Geez he looks slow.

He needs to be at prop going forward with Radley/Murray rotating at lock.

I'm not sure Jurbo even gets picked next year.

Murray and Radley is exactly what that team needs.

Cook was captain when Teddy went off. And yes, we lost by 6 points. "If" is the biggest two letter word in the universe when one is wiser after the event. But Cleary's performance was stifled by the forward who got no go forward
One also has to note that Qld were the hungrier side out there last night, referee blunders or not.

But blaming the loss on one player and weighting the defeat on him will do NSW no good for the future.

Remember, Cleary saved two tries with him knocking on a Qld pass which would by reports led to a try, and Cleary's involvement in fighting for the ball when Qld kicked into our in goal which resulted in a NSW scrum feed.

My mistake re captain then if so - as I’d read n though Cleary was given the nod in the 2nd half, apologies.

I’m not solely blaming Cleary if that’s what you thought I meant. Said he wasn’t alone but was the most glaring given his role, the leader of our attack etc.

There are a raft of other reasons I think we lost.

Selecting players out of position.
inexperience in both the halves and forwards
Not handling the fly-in on the day (our 2 atrocious performances, and funnily enough the 1 for Qld)

And possibly because our players were reading the press after game 2..

But overall our attack in games 1 & 3 were what I believe cost us the series. Our defence kept us in it, despite some lapses. Our attack couldn’t win it.

I have criticized Cleary in the past but I didn't think he was that bad last night or in the grand final (he definitely wasn't the best player either). He still lacks a bit of composure when the pressure is on though.
He didn't get much support from his 6 and 9 last night. Walker was invisible and I feel Cook fades in and out of games too much.
I thought Gutho tried to do too much when he went back to fullback as well. He kept going down Wighton's side and cramping him. Get Jack standing deeper without some jack in the box popping up next to him all the time and he could have torn that qld left edge up. Wighton's positioning was terrible all series unfortunately .

Did you watch the game?
Cook was tackling his heart out in the middle ........considering Qld controlled the ball for most of the game and NSW forwards never dominated the game ........limits Cook ability to run smartly in the ruck.
As for Walker , NSW backline did not play with enough depth ( perhaps because QLD dominated the ball and NSW forwards were mostly on the backfoot) and when they had some depth , Cleary took the line on , ADDing runs and metres to his tally.Cleary gave Walker the invisible cloak.

Manly are going to be rueing his contract for years to come. $950k a season. Tolman is 100x better value than him

you panther fans are determined to die on the "Cleary is the best" hill. Desperately scratching to find any positives from the game to talk Naf up.

He was bad. Not the worst on ground, but again his lack of creativity in attack lost them the game.

I still can’t get over a challenge being successful but the wrong decision standing :/
And how Kafusi isn’t just sent to the sin bin at the end of every game. How he didn’t get sent for his last tackle is beyond a joke. I get that nsw lost but those decisions with the Munster smashing Clearys face instead of playing the ball and then getting a penalty.
Those decisions just don’t sit well with me at all and I wish the refs and NRL were more transparent in there debriefs etc

It's funny, Jack at centre wasn't raised at all last year.
I think it was a bit clouded because everyone was happy we won after dumping Jmoz and Trell in favour of Wighton and Turbo.

I do remember being a bit nervous with him there last year in terms of defence.

Oh and The Chin has still yet to prove he can play off the back foot.

I'm feeling vindicated, and very smug.

Has to be said again: has there every been a more Jekyll-and-Hyde player than Dane Gagai? Amazing the level he consistently goes to in that maroon jumper.

I thought there was a bit of NRL level Gagai last night. Still did better than the blues though.

Has anybody realised there was not a single Bronco in the Queensland side?
Yet there was a Bronco in the Blues side. Payne Haas was driven back 5-10 metres largely by Munster in one of his carries. Shocking for such a big human..Forget about blaming Cleary or anyone else. Let’s just not pick Broncos anymore to play in Blue...

The Bronco the Blues oh so desperately needed - Staggs - was sadly injured.

You add the injured brigade of Latrell, Turbo & Staggs, and then f**king pick your best dynamic bench option in Papy and it's a different team.

I think the injury absences of Radley and Murray were huge too. Slow af in the middle, slow in the 3/4s.

It was a recipe for disaster and Freddy had to pick at least one of Crichton or Lomax.

Have a look at the nrl.com ratings. https://www.nrl.com/news/2020/11/18/origin-iii-player-ratings-nsw-blues/

Teddy 2?
Tupou 7? Should never be picked again
Wighton 6.5? Should never be picked at centre again.
Yeo 7? A bloke who can fill in at prop should not be filling in at centre. too slow. Quickly going from underrated to overrated.

We need specialist centres, turbo being the only exception.

Need to bench Haas - 35m is poor.

Nathan Brown played 12 mins. Why bother.

As much as it pains me, we actually missed Cordner.

Next year the team should be able to pick 2 from Crichton, Best and Staggs. with a forward pack of 8. Saifiti 9 Cook 10 Klemmer 11. Cordner (Health permitting) 12. Cam Murray 13 Radley
