Yep if you go back to when Bankwest was announced you could fairly reasonably estimate that WSW would be averaging more than the Eels. If WSW had Bankwest in the 2-3 years after inception they would have averaged high 20ks such was the support at the time, and with the presence of the RBB. The potential is still there but needs a turnaround.

Exactly. The Wanderers have so far blown their chance to take advantage of the shiny new stadium, due to 5 years of missing the finals. I'm also a Wanderers fan.
The Eels have bounced back with success since it opened, and that has been the secret to their success and large crowds. The Wanderers could have done similarly with similar success.
The stadium is fine. It all comes down to how successful the teams are that are playing there.
As it is, the Wanderers had the highest A-League crowd average this season - just over 10 000.

yes and no. Obviously form has a big part to play in crowd attendance, no one wants to pay $50 and drag themselves out the house to watch their team get flogged. But a top quality stadium and good pricing also plays a big part. Panthers would only be getting around 16k, roosters barely broke 15k at home despite form. Eels have a very good membership price structure that encourages the whole family to get involved and having the best stadium in Sydney is brining in the fans, including the away team fans as they know they are going to get a good experience, unlike travelling to other away stadiums in the city which are generally sht.

it didn’t help that the Wanderers played games at Spotless during construction. The old Parra Stadium sat you close to the field and with the crowds the Wanderers pulled it was a decent atmosphere, even in games against trash teams.

Spotless sat you in another post code to the game and many fans dropped off. Also having 8k crowds at ANZ did not help at all. By the time we went back to BankWest the club was down to a bare bones fanbase. It’s a shame, the ACL final against Al-Hilal was one of the best atmospheres I’ve seen at a sporting event, only bankwest game that’s come close was the 3-2 derby win a few months back.
