How could you possibly call the Crighton one a good decision? 2 weeks for that?

Meanwhile Drew Hutchison is back in hospital with complications from his punctured lung and the dope who dug his knees in to his back will be back playing next week after serving 3 games.

Crighton getting 2 is the right call. The Hutchinson one should have got more but that doesn’t mean Crighton didn’t deserve 2. It isn’t the first charge from him maybe he should have learnt the time before.

That’s awful news on Drew. That bloke has been through big injury dramas before, and as he had an opportunity to finally crack it at NRL level... this happens...

I’m not being over the top when thinking this could be his NRL career done... he’s playing behind a bunch of star halves in Keary n now Walker at the roosters.... a great season for the rest of this year and he could have got snapped up by another club.

Medically he needs to overcome these issues firstly for his own health. Once he does, whenever that is, I truly hope he gets a start somewhere coz he’s got resilience and talent.

A mixture of stupidity and arrogance from the Roosters to think they would be successful in getting downgrades in the current environment.

Suspending a shit tonne of players is sure to boost crowd numbers
Remember when players wouldn't get suspended for Origin and the GF because they wanted the best players available.

We need to rub out stars of the game for accidental contact. I'm hoping for a few more suspensions for origin 1, should be a stinker.

Can anyone clarify what needs to happen for the suspension/s to include Origin? The NRL casualty ward website indicates that Origin will be included as they say Crighton will return round 14 (noting a bye in round 13).

Drew was actually starting to win over a lot of supporters. He isn't great but was putting in, defending well and nicely complemented Walker. He would still be starting ahead of Lam IMO.

Even when Keary returns next year and if we ever get to full strength I can see a bench spot for him now Friend and Aubo are gone.

They don't include Origin matches for suspensions anymore. Suspensions are for NRL games, so if an Origin game is on during the period the player is suspended then they are ineligible for selection.

IIRC this change happened after the famous Qld "TBA" selection for game 2 of the 2002 Origin series for Lote Tuiqiri. They didn't name him so he could serve his suspension, leaving a "TBSA" on the team sheet when announced, then they brought him into the squad after the weekend he was suspended.

was rumoured yesterday that if the roosters can prove that both were going to be picked for origin 1, then that game would count for one of the suspended games.

Surely there are easier ways to address that?

If we are going to say the suspension is for NRL games then they should be able to play SOO. Alternatively SOO should count towards the suspension.

Obviously the issue then is how do you prove a player would have been picked? Surely Angus as an incumbent would get the benefit of the doubt there.

Would Gutho? He's unlikely to get picked this year but should SOO still count for him, hypothetically?

Yeah look it's a good question. What level of evidence should the NRL need to be assured the player would have been picked?

Take Munster for example, I don't think anyone would doubt that he would be selected. Then as you say there are guys like Gutho. I do believe Angus is closer to Munster than Gutho in terms of likelihood of being picked though.

Opens a can of worms you can just see the NSW coach saying “oh yeah he’d be picked” but let’s be real he’d be 10th in line.
