2020 contracts have now expired, leaving those without a contract for 2021 currently unsigned.

That doesn't mean those players won't be back next year. The late finish to the season due to the pandemic has pushed everything back, including contract negotiations and the start of preseason training.
We'll learn more over the next month as the game properly enters it's offseason and then begins preseason.

So it's 30 player squads still - I think they reduced the number of development players from 6 to 2?- Have to wait and see if they will have lower grade comps in 2021 - Canterbury Cup/Jersey Flegg - as many of these players played 1 or no games all seasons.

I did read that next season they will put the age up for the junior comps as other wise players will miss a year of footy. They should have an under 23 comp/ Proper Reserve Grade comp /NRL comp as the 3 senior comps -

Harold Matts from under 16 to under 17

SG Ball from under 18 to under 19

Jersey Flegg from under 20 to under 21

Don't worry.
Latrell, Keaon, Bayley, Reynolds, and SuA will definitely be extended.

Latrell is No1 priority, they are working on him right now.
SuA No2 priority, I expect to hear something when SOO series is done.
Reynolds will probably get his final contract, 2 or 3 years.
Keaon and Bagley are next priority - these two, they need to work on quickly before their value really rises.
I expect Gagai as well, but he will need to take less money.
Tatola probably depending on how he goes.

The rest ending @2021 are easily replaceable. Leaving plenty of money to go after JAC if he holds off on the Tigers.

I agree with a lot of what you said though have a slightly different opinion on the order of priority.

Koala and Siro though will hold out as long as possible unless Souths put a strong offer to start with.
You're right that it is in Souths best interests to get them early but it is in the best interests of the players to hold out if they believe they can increase their value.
We may have to be patient with them both.

Tatola will be in line for a decent bump i believe so may be difficult to get done early. Will depend a lot on his ambition.
The number of players coming off contract in 2021 is a good thing IMO. It will give the club a chance to sort out it's salary cap for the first time since Sam's return from union.

That's disappointing. Thought he showed a lot of promise and could've been a very good squad player going forward. Hopefully someone else picks him up as it would be a shame to see his career ended because of injury.
