Friday night ratings
NRL 574K without streaming 2nd game, probs 700K with it
209K without streaming 1st game , probs 320K with it
another comfortable victory over the AFL

495K without streaming , probs 570K with it

The NRL on track to beat the AFL comp v comp ... easily
While code V code , Rugby League v Aust rules, it isn't a contest.

Only 91K in Brisbane for the Qlnd derby, maybe Vlandys needs to get Brisbane2 back on the agenda sooner rather than later.

If only we could turn our TV dominance over AFL into $'s!!

And yet they keep getting better Tv deals, we must be very sht at negotiations!
dont cry because your favourite sport is the second most watched in australia

they play more games , their games go for 25% longer , they play quarters but...
their last deal was only just bigger then ours
AFL 2.4 billion for 6 years
NRL 1.9 billion for 5 years

covid has f**ked it up a bit for both codes but I think PVL .. the great .. PVL, will be hell bent on us outdoing them with the next one

bah blah, yeh only been watching and playing rugby league since I was 9.
Yes their game has more ad breaks which matters for FTA, not for PTV. However shouldnt our bigger audiences and SOO balance out there extra game length? Big difference is they are national so have higher metro ratings and they have a ninth game giving them extra content and a Saturday night, which we could have if the NRL ever got its finger out.

regional NSW is worth more to advertisers then all of WA
so theres that theory out the window
the 9th game $$ is pissed up against the wall because of the extra cost the governing body has to outlay to carry waste of space clubs like GWS & the suns

their willy nilly expansion strategy , over a decade old now & with one of these sides already making a GF has cost them more then the 9th game has earnt

murdoch paid way too much for the AFL
way too much

watch what happens at the next deal

Not according to them. And when you are earning what they are you can pss away money anywhere you like. fact is we are still way behind in every tv deal despite having origin and larger audiences. Yes let’s see what Vlandys has actually signed us up to, not that we can tell as he’s buried it so there is no transparency anymore.

people have been saying this crap since 2002. As far as Im aware, other than for a year or two in the 90s, the national rugby league competition - in whatever guise - hasnt recieved more than the AFL since 1991.

20 million a year is not .... way behind
plus the midgets & thuns would cost the AFL an extra 40 million a year to run .. still.. after 10 years
so technically they're behind us
plonking clubs we're they're not needed or wanted is costly

haha, you dont know what our tv deal is so how do you get to $20mill? Looking at 2019 respective revenues the tv deal was significantly more than $20mill difference (all media $73 mill difference). It was claimed their ninth game was worth an extra $52mill a year on their tv deals, like I said they could afford to pss money up the wall as they were earning so damn much of it. Be interesting to see if Covid changes that longer term when the Suns in particular look like a very expensive luxury just to force NRL to prop up the Titans.

We still have no idea what the NRLs tv revenue is or what it will be in the coming years, you dont bury something like that without good reason, and its usually not good news you hide.
