In 2016, Peters became head coach of the Wests Tigers Holden Cup team. In 2017, Peters became the Assistant Coach at Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. Peters than became an NRL Assistant coach under Wayne Bennett at the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2019,[5][6] before linking with the Newcastle Knights in 2020.

His other assistant Eric Smith was coaching the Sunshine Coast Falcons before coming to the Knights.

Yep 2 first grade experienced advisors and assistants right there for our rookie coach.

If I was AOB I'd be on the phone to Toovey and Flannagan, both would bring tremendous experience and advice, support and guidance. Both have been a part of a winning a premiership team and former NRL coaches.

Smith i can understand. He and AOB worked together in the Storm/Falcons system for many years and would be in sync with what AOB wanted to achieve with the club......at least in theory

arguably nepotism.

I understand what you are saying but - Out of everyone in the NRL landscape Smith is the most viable assistant, qualified and experienced ? I think not. He's a rookie assisting a rookie.

If I was a coach I wouldnt want an assistant that was better than me, danger of being replaced from within

Seibold took over as defensive coach at some point last year didn't he? Could argue he was a huge assistance and reason we made it to finals.
