Yet you label them small minded? Not a lot of respect being shown there! Games being taken to regions is a long standing strategy by the nrl and clubs to build the brand. You as usual only see the negatives.
It was a curt response to dckhead Phil.

No problem, people are allowed to have different opinions.
we only take games to regional areas at the moment ad they are so poorly attended in the cities So grabbing the councils cash makes sense.
That's because our game has been historically very short sighted. For all the whinging about our we're lacking talent and players we seem very quick to shit on rural Australia which has traditionally been a nursery for rugby league talent. That's one of our big advantages over the AFL we actually have a presence outside of the capital cities.

Wow an Aflol fan gets shitty when it's once again highlighted his repeated attacks on RL & continued fawning over his beloved AFL.
Here's some news for the know it all from the other side of Aust.
Some of our best players have come from country areas .
So taking games there is a reward ...an incentive for young kids to play like their idols that they can finally see play in the flesh ..not just on TV .
They get to meet them maybe get an autograph .
As for idiocy that trial games should be the only ones to be played in country areas..lol you really have No idea.
Kids ..fans of clubs want to see the real thing .
A premiership game not a trial where the best players are left at home & the young reggies get a run .
Stick to your own sport because you are clueless about RL & its history with East Coast rural areas .

The Panthers Bathurst game would of had atleast 20% of the crowd under 12 in Panthers jersey's.
Westfund now support the club

All benefits from moving regular games to a region

Regional games are the just about the only time the stadiums are full. Great atmosphere and can look great on TV as long as they have decent lighting. Got the spread the love.
Lavington is Albury has just been expanded to about 12K. I know it is an oval but it is small and great for RL. Plenty of City v Country games there in the past but a much better venue now. Storm or Raiders as the away team would draw a full house.
It looks good at lavi now

Is that really a benefit a though?

Would it not be better for RL if instead of getting one NRL game a year and then more or less being left to rot (not to mention the towns/regions that don't even get that), that country towns such as Bathurst, Wagga, Mudgee, etc, are supported so that they can build up RL locally instead of being reliant on fly in fly out NRL teams whom are only there for the cash injection.

In other words, would it not be better for RL if that 20% of under 12s were wearing Bathurst jerseys instead of Penrith ones, and if instead of getting 10k once a year for an NRL game they were getting 2.5-5k for a local team every second week?

Taking NRL games to the bush is a tokenistic band-aid solution to a very large multifaceted problem, that also has serious negative impacts on the home side's fanbase back home. If we are serious about attempting to address bush footy's issues then it's going to require local solutions to local problems.

do they do any tie ins with local clubs for these games e.g. local side is the earlier game

And they are spending how much on Origin?
rumored to be $5-6million but dont know if its true. No one says lol. It was rumoured they paid $10mill for a 5 year package previously that included Origin, test match and NRL games.

SA allegedly paid $6mill for their origin game and Qlnd $8mill to host the extra game in Townsville. I hope SA got a discount or something for the future out of it as the sports tourism wouldn't have happened with the travel restrictions at the time of their origin.

It will make double that easily

Shows the value of spreading games around
