Is that really a benefit a though?
Would it not be better for RL if instead of getting one NRL game a year and then more or less being left to rot (not to mention the towns/regions that don't even get that), that country towns such as Bathurst, Wagga, Mudgee, etc, are supported so that they can build up RL locally instead of being reliant on fly in fly out NRL teams whom are only there for the cash injection.
In other words, would it not be better for RL if that 20% of under 12s were wearing Bathurst jerseys instead of Penrith ones, and if instead of getting 10k once a year for an NRL game they were getting 2.5-5k for a local team every second week?
Taking NRL games to the bush is a tokenistic band-aid solution to a very large multifaceted problem, that also has serious negative impacts on the home side's fanbase back home. If we are serious about attempting to address bush footy's issues then it's going to require local solutions to local problems.
