It is growing, Lots of younger fans
I haven’t been to a game in seven years and it’s certainly changed since I was a regular

unlike in the past where it was an adult male dominated crowd it seemed to be full of teens and young families

it appears the game is hugely popular with the younger demographic more so then the past

A local Penrith high school last week had a jersey day. The school put photos online on Facebook. Counting what was being worn:

Panthers - 27
Roosters - 7
Souths - 4
Eels - 2
Tigpies - 1
Manchester United - 1
GWS (stupid name) - 1
NY Knicks - 1
Phoenix Suns - 1
Italy RL - 1
Phila 76ers - 1
Chicago Bulls - 1
Chicago Bears - 1

Even more interesting absolutely insane
Rugby League - 42
Basketball - 4
Football - 1
NFL - 1
AwFuL - 1

The kids out this way just love the Panthers and everything they are doing. The last 10 years have been incredible. With Parramatta also getting its house in order good times are ahead.

Anecdotally the Tigpies used to be among the most supported clubs out here (along Parra and of course Penrith). But rarely see Tigpies merch any more.

It’s pretty simple: they are winning. It’s the same reason why you wouldn’t see any Tigpies stuff: they are losing.

On the flip side, I haven't seen a single AFL jersey out here.

You see it at every fan thing, The open training session tomorrow will be kids everywhere.. great times for the game as a whole

probably less embarrassing at the moment to wear your GWS shirt to school rather than west tigers jersey

Love this. More stats like this please.

Not a single RL jersey at my son's school footy day in Melbourne's east (there was one kid in a Knights jersey a few years back). All AFL besides a couple of UK soccer tops. My son has Storm gear but wore his Hawks (cough, cough) top.

Roosters tally isn’t bad. Remember Vossy joked about there being more Roosters fans at Penrith Park than in the east during one of his match calls. Maybe there was a touch of seriousness to it

So with the GF sold out, does anyone know what the capacity is after the massive screens were put in?

I can’t find the text anywhere but I’m sure when it was finished and they were showing it on the news they said that 3,000 had to be removed but they have increased corporate capacity by 1,000 (probably by fitting smaller chairs).

They managed to do similar at Suncorp when they pulled out 600 seats for the new screens.

Good to see afl spending hundreds of millions in western Sydney to be as popular as the Italian rugby league and the nfl whilst foreign sports like the nba trounce them

The kids with the Roosters jerseys are contractually obliged to wear them.
100% homegrown Roosters juniors right there...
