Personally raiders were only going to win by playing through the middle. Yet they tried to play it wide and parra play that game better than most teams. Cowboys will be playing it straight through the middle next week and parra will be punished.
I thought Parra had a great game plan last night. Rheed was throwing it quite wide from dummy half to make the line have to pursue and then the ball players (halves and even Matterson) were the playing back toward the play the ball to engage the big men. Whether it was this tactic or the fact they had all the ball, they seemed to make a lot of ground and the Raiders forwards seemed less effective with the ball.

Not many people rate BA but he does seem to come up with some quality game plans. His issue seems to be getting the team to buy into those plans on a consistent basis; particularly when the press tell them they are going to win. Next week will be a huge challenge for BA and the side.

Parramattas edge forwards were so strong it was like we were defending a man down.

Tbh it took a ludicrous late season collapse from the Bronx for the Raiders to even make the 8. It's a difficult season to judge as a fan. We still have massive problems but went from looking terrible to sneaking into the 8 and making week 2 of the finals.

I have no idea how we will go next year.
14 wins and 10 losses means that you were worthy participants in a finals series where half the teams play.

But making it through the first week does feel like an over-achievement for the team.

The problem with predicting how they will go next year is they don’t seem to play with any structure (the new English bloke on the Roar has written an excellent article about this), which is fine when the team gets a few weeks of consistent selections under their belts but means changes cause them issues. This is not because the depth is crap (the issue a team like Manly has for example; on the contrary it seems like Canberra has some quality young players coming through across the park) but because it is hard to come into a team with no systems or consistent game plan.
