Indeed it is disappointing. Is there not an appetite for players in the region of that age to step up to a bigger stage ? Or is there a cap on squad size and they just ran out of troops ?

Ditto the Clydesdales?

No caps on squads. Both regions + Ipswich have had an issue with it seemingly being more advantageous to play local A-Grade in recent years.

The Central Queensland Capras and Townsville Blackhawks won their way through to the preliminary finals after posting victories in Week 1 of the Hastings Deering Colts finals series.

In the elimination finals, Sunshine Coast Falcons ended the season of Mackay Cutters with a strong 40-20 win at Sunshine Coast Stadium.

In the other match, Tweed Seagulls pipped Brisbane Tigers 28-24 in a close match in an upset with Tweed finishing just inside the eight to make the finals.

Both the Seagulls and Falcons live to fight another day and will play again next weekend, while Central Queensland Capras and Townsville Blackhawks will have next weekend off.

Wynnum Manly Seagulls live on to fight another day in their campaign to win back-to-back Hastings Deering Colts titles after downing Tweed Seagulls yesterday.

Max Plath scored a double and kicked four of the team's five conversions in the 34-12 win.

In today's game, the Redcliffe Dolphins came from behind to claim a hard-fought 30-16 victory against Sunshine Coast Falcons at Sunshine Coast Stadium.

Dolphins halfback Cody Hunter had a good afternoon with the boot, slotting five from five conversions.
