It has been a big year so far for young gun Jye Gray and he’s hoping for more good things to come.

The Parkwood Sharks and Runaway Bay Seagulls junior was part of the Souths Logan Magpies team that went undefeated all season and claimed this year's Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup title and his performances during the competition saw him gain selection in the extended Queensland Under 19 Boys squad.

The Western Clydesdales have made a coaching change as the establishment of its Bulldogs Academy ramps up.

As part of the partnership with NRL club Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs, which was announced in March, the Bulldogs are setting up an Academy in southwest Queensland to develop talented young players.

Hastings Deering Colts coach Blake Mara has been appointed as the full-time Bulldogs Academy coach to establish that development program.

As that important role is full-time, Mara will focus his attention solely on setting up the Bulldogs Academy, meaning he is unable to continue coaching the Clydesdales in the Colts competition.

Given the partnership between the Clydesdales and Bulldogs, Mara will still be involved with the club and the under 21s squad.

Former Bulldogs player and experienced mentor Jason Alchin (pictured) will take over as head coach of the Clydesdales' Colts.

The Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) has confirmed new representative fixtures – Under-19s male and female State of Origin, on Thursday, June 23, at Leichhardt Oval.

Both matches will be broadcast on the Nine Network and Fox Sports, while each under-19s team will also be permitted to select two NRL or NRLW contracted “marquee” under-20s players for the match.

Players who would be eligible by age as under-19s or four under-20 marquee spots would include Roosters duo Sam Walker and Joseph Suaalii, Parramatta centre Will Penisini, Warriors fullback Reece Walsh, Broncos halfback Ezra Mam or Dragons fullback Tyrell Sloan.
