Apparently they do.

You tell me which sport has consistently been paid more for the last 30 years again?
Stephen Bradbury won a gold medal

doesn’t mean he was the best athlete at the time

afl is the Stephen Bradbury of Australian football codes

The NRL suffered the same fate as the AFL. The game felt like it was damn well near over 10 minutes in, the game never felt like a contest and the overwhelming favourite won easily.

There was no really narrative or excitement to the result (at least when Manly flogged the storm there was some interest due to the rivalry and hatred of the storm).

Also the big question for me is how long till we consider showing the games on fox/kayo? Ratings on FTA are plummeting for the NRL.
I'll raise a couple of points.

1. The Friday 6pm game, as an example, does not suit the FTA game at 8pm. People who are on kayo will stay there for the two games. If there was one game at 8pm, then some people may watch Nine news and stay there for whole night to watch the game later on.

2. If Ten/Paramount or Nine/Stan get the full rights from 2028, would they still simulcast the FTA games? Effectively Nine/Stan and Ten/Paramount are under the one umbrella. Nine and Fox/Kayo are not.

I doubt anyone is going to pay $25 a month for kayo then choose to watch the terrible ad filled ch9 coverage!

bei g forced to watch the GF on ch9 reminds me what good value kayo is!

simucast drives subscriptions so answer would be yes

Well thanks for that fact based assessment.
Rugby league and afl were competing pre super league. Rugby league was number one by a long way

so unless afl changed it’s rules since then it’s still the same sport which rugby league dominated before a civil war set the code back 30 years

eventually it’s obviously going to reclaim top spot once it has the right leadership and expands properly

just like Bradbury winning gold afl got lucky with the super league war

Nine and Ten want advertising too. But a media rights deal under the one umbrella would be interesting to see.

True but there’s a lot more money in subscription tv. You get subscriptions and advertising. That’s why fta pays $90mill for the nrl comp and ptv pays $240mill.

you certainly do ... so they couldn't be wrong eh clown
On the basis of likelihood whose right hmmmmm? So if you don’t believe in the tv ratings anymore then I guess you think our massive extra viewers over the season must be iffy? Hmmm see how stupid you sound?

and for the hard of hearing I don’t give a sht about gf ratings, i care about whose got the most money to grow and develop their game. clearly ratings are not translating to $’s for us.

Thats not based on fact either. from 1992 the AFl were paid more for broadcast rights, they always drew more crowds, and they attracted more revenue.

6 million potential viewers in our regionals where RL is the only sport in town , a game in prime time with at least one big popular sydney club involved , &

we rate less then racistballs regionals with 3 million potential veiwers for a game not in prime time
yea nothing fishy about that eh clown

& if we had easily outrated racistballs GF

Maybe nrl fans are more parochial and regional ones are not interested in west sydney? Maybe the lack of brisbane interest was reflected in the qlnd regions? Maybe the game was so lopsided from the outset they went out to feed the cows?
But yeh I’m sure they just made up the ratings to spite the nrl lol

why? I’ve told you numerous times theres no value in gf ratings. so afl beat us for a change, so what? so we got a lot more during the season, so what? $402v$643 those are the numbers that really matter.

It is adorable that you only call this out when you lose in the ratings,
