Bounce back seems likely. Bounce back and win against this opponent, not so much.

Remember last year when a betting agency had the Dogs at $19, and twice in the first two minutes Jack Hetherington was pinged for two head high shots and did not spend any time in the bin?
Yea, a few Panthers players will have that fresh in their memory.
Us by 46-10. We really need to boost our for/against after Parra and Mel put on hidings.

I don't know - but this doesn't seem like a coaching structure that will work.

What doesn't work? Looking after the welfare of a player who was a whipping boy next year, had no reserve grade last year to work on his game to find his confidence? Yeah I think getting him in the right headspace was essential, and I've got on doubt the Dogs are going to get flogged this week. But hopefully we look a lot better in attack, which will be hard against the Panthers.

Not to mention that's Gus's role at the club, looking after all players no matter what level they are at.

You don't see any issue with a head coach not having any autonomy on who is in his team?

Gould has a bit of a track record for being too hands on with the first grade coach, which is why it was one of Cleary's rules when he came back to Penrith (and ultimately saw Gould on the way out).

In the case of this player, no. Even Gould alludes that Flanagan needs some time to get his head in the right place and not put so much pressure on himself. It would be different if it was happening all along the teamsheet. But that's not the case. Barrett pretty much is choosing this team, and they are playing his style, which sucks, but it is what it is.

Flanagan has had some time to find his feet, and his real test is in front of him whether he is up to the challenge. I think he will get more than a couple of weeks to show his wares. Though I did note that BBO was dropped to reserves to get game time at halfback. So their is one more contender for what seems to be a hard crown to wear at the Bulldogs.

I call BS. This is Gus trying to take heat of Flanagan and Barrett.
That's my take on it too. Gould doesn't care how hated he is. He knows all the pressure on Barrett isn't helping him so he's trying to shift the blame to himself.

If he was more involved there's no way Bulldogs would be this poor. When he got involved at Panthers in 2016 it was the only time in Hooks Panthers career where our attack looked sharp and dangerous.
