V'landys brought this on himself by not being transparent with the details of the broadcast rights deal. It's obvious he under sold the rights, which casts serious doubt over his allegiance and competence. @Perth Red was right about him.Even the clubs don`t know the details. Ming boggling.
Given that broadcasting revenue historically represents about two-thirds of the income to the central administration and, with a stalemate reached in negotiations, both stakeholders are demanding more detail around the seven-year pay-TV deal ARLC chair Peter V’landys negotiated with Foxtel during the Covid pandemic.
It’s what could be called an “undisclosed asset” in the negotiations. V’landys has always maintained the secrecy around the Foxtel deal becomes irrelevant when the clubs and players will receive record deals and add to it when the NRL goes back to broadcasters for the 2028 contract.
Seems like V`landy`s & co. are getting plenty of grief over the fumbleball broadcast deal as well.

Now is a golden opportunity for V'landys and Abdo to publicly declare an interest in expanding into Adelaide, New Zealand and Perth. Hold a press conference to state the only way a club will get $5m or more on top of the salary cap is by relocating to Adelaide or New Zealand or Perth. I'd go one step further and say the Tigers will get $5m on top of the cap if their licence is given to the Easts Tigers so they can be based out of Coorparoo as the Brisbane Tigers!

Spoke to a bloke today who`s right into the horses and asked him what he made of V`landy`s tenure of N.S.W. Racing. He tells me for the first time in a long time people in N.S.W. are looking to invest in horses because there`s money in it.

Until you look back a few years as a measure where the grant went from $7mill to $13mill. it didn’t seem to make a blind bit of difference across those metrics you mention. Maybe going to $16mill will be different? Or maybe they’ll keep blowing it paying coaches out and lord knows what other sht they spend their $30million on.
The bloke is gutting junior RL to fund decrepit Sydney NRL clubs. In 15 to 20 years from now the quality of NRL players will be much lower as fewer kids will be playing the game over that period. Registration costs will grow while our main competitor gives theirs away at a low price. Families struggling to make ends meet just won't be able to afford the costs associated with playing football. Some will be lost to fumbleball. Junior clubs will wither and die. All thanks to V'landys putting decrepit Sydney NRL clubs ahead of the game.

Its easier for him to attack posters than to actually think about a counter argument to the points being made. That would take a modicum of intelligence.
The game will contract if this continues. When the ARU did something similar they raised registration costs for juniors. Our game cannot afford to heap more expenses on juniors when much of our fanbase lives in lower socio-economic regions. People will have less money to go see NRL games.
This TV deal finishes in 2027 not 2028 that's in the thread title and note it's only media, not telecommunications companies ie Telstra. The post i made the NRL deal before now makes sense and since it is finished 2027, when would be the right time to start negotiations. Maybe make a start at 3/4 of this years season, so before finals. The AFL went very early, but if we give it a try this year we can call it off if we don't get what we want and start next year.
Another way to say it their is only 4.7% difference between AFL and NRL in the media only ,TV ,STV for the years 2023 and this year 2024. YOU would not guess that form the commentators dragging the game down , I'm looking at you........Mr....
