Would have preferred a sell put, but it was a solid crowds, reasonable atmosphere and Samoa showed some promising signs which will help for next week.

Yeah was expecting more but certainly not horrible. Looked like decent atmosphere. Wonder if they'll get more in Melbourne

Ahh, maybe just a few couple thousand at PNG? Seem to have not placed tickets on sale in the Eastern stand?

You’d think that for a country calling out for an NRL team and who are supposed to be crazy about footy, they would sell more than half the stadium out. PNG Rugby League is a complete myth

In the long run if you give the smaller drawing clubs only the dud timeslots you are limiting crowd growth. Can't just think in terms of immediate gratification.
Warriors are kinda the exception there because of the time difference, hosting the early games there actually makes sense for NZ crowd and TV numbers. Just don’t turn around and claim that we have “shit TV numbers” and can’t pull Australian viewers when it’s largely due to timeslot.

Australian tv audiences are not a barometer of the wahs tv popularity

Was a weird situation in Port Moresby with those huge blocks of stands empty. It’s only 12k capacity so doubt the crowd was more than 7k tops.
Someone on the ground there said scalpers had bought huge amounts and trying to flog them for a lot more, might explain why the crowd seemed so weirdly sat in bocks rather dispersed, or they sold seats in that way? Either way a very disappointed ting look and probably the smallest crowd I’ve seen for a home kumuls game. Not a good look for a future nrl team if the ticket price was the big issue keeping people away.

If the scalpers story is true it means the tickets were sold out

How Eden Park is selling. Black equals 95% or more sold out, the lighter the colour, the less that has been sold. Red indicates that bay is yet to go on sale.

In terms of comparisons, Australia v Tonga / NZ v GB double header is possibly the best comparison. That game drew a crowd of 25,257 and we are selling competitively well against it. Big difference in this weekend's match versus that game, is sales behind the posts were a lot stronger back in 2019, with Eastern lower (307 - 314), Eastern upper (301 - 306) and Western upper (328 - 337) all pretty much being at capacity, but for this year's clash sideline sales in the North lower are lot stronger, with most bays never getting much more than 70% allocation.

Retractable seating is on sale, though understandably not selling considering it is limited visibility.

If match keeps trending like it is, should get over 20K.

Weird choice of ground final going to a small town capacity in Hamilton and this pool game to Eden park

should’ve swapped

The only reason I can think of why this match is being played at Eden Park versus Mt Smart is that Auckland Tourism has contributed some money towards it. Agree it is a strange fixture to take there, would have been better if NZ v Samoa was at Mt Smart and NZ v Australia was at Eden Park.

On Eden Park:

Well at least the Northern side (the TV side) has sold well in true lower tier in contrast to the 2019 Test match. Looking back at that match, as yakstorm noted the two ends were largely sold, with this year the Northern being much stronger.

Kinda impressive at the Northern tickets are obviously more expensive than the Eastern side, so good from a money perspective.

Can’t see the Western stand being opened, or the upper tiers - so maybe the most we could get would be an on par crowd of 25,000? Which I suppose would be equal to a sold out Mr Smart.
