Have the NRL ever left it this late to confirm next years cap?
Iv see some reports having it rise over a Million next year.
I personally think any increases to the cap should come in the way of increasing minimum wage.
The quality and depth will increase if there is more insensitive for fringe players to push and train harder.
Min wage for player 27-30 is only $77k and $60k for development deals.
I would scrap development deals and increases squads to 35 with min wage on your bottom 10 players to $150k.
The more players you keep in the system the longer you will discover plenty more diamonds that would of stopped playing.

Frenzy.

17 x 5 = 85 players

I can't see that happening when they are mooting an 18th team that will swell that out to 102.

I gotta say though, I couldn't see myself putting my head where heads shouldn't go for $77,000.

Most teams have up to 5 development players anyway. The more full time well
Paid players will benefit an 18th team in the long run.
Can easily reduce it to 33/34 players for the year or 2 the 18th team come into the comp.
$77k isn’t enough to stop players doing a trade or even hard labour

Playing NRL for that pittance probably is hard labour. When did it get that low? COVID pay cuts I suppose

Just hate to see it go like NFL with 2-3 players on a million and the rest not making enough once their playing days are over.
