Rugby league is the nation's premier television sport, so much so that when nationwide ratings and attendance figures are combined for a total of 140.78 million, it still kicks well clear of the AFL at 133.28 million. Yes, the NRL, excluding State of Origin, has a bigger national combined audience than the A F L.

Can you imagine how many watch Origin? Would be mind blowing.

Kumuls being a PNG side is not necessarily representative of how many would watch two non PNG sides play.

I`m finding it quite fascinating that the Nine and the NRL are prioritising the Kiwi audience by scheduling Saturday`s game between the Warriors and Newcastle at 6 p.m. in NZ, which translates to a less favourable 4 p.m. timeslot over here. I can only think that they see this as a golden opportunity to promote the game over there, still I`m surprised Nine agreed to it given that it could likely have rather a strong detrimental effect on the ratings.

like not forcing the wahs to play at Eden park to make more money it’s a thank you to nz so they can watch their team at a good time as it’s on fta

there were idiots arguing sky mz would pay less next time as spark went bust

I dont think they care, NRL ratings reported at 128m before finals.

That is 10m more than last year which was a record ratings year.

They are getting huge value out of the NRL.
