Sydney Showground Stadium only holds around 23k.
.

Haha, would anyone even know the gws game was happening there on that night?

.
You'd hope NSW Transport would have better systems by September and October. Lets hope all goes well by GF day.

However I think playing it on Sunday is the right call.
If you can schedule matches to avoid clashes like this, then why wouldn't you do it?

It's not a "fear" thing" it's just basic logic.
30Secs to Mars are also playing Saturday night at Qudos so you'd think there would be 15k+ there as well?

That crowd means Newcastle finishes the regular season with an average home attendance of 22636, which is officially the record in their 37 year history (surpassing the 22018 home average they had back in 1990).

Although management will be delighted with that figure, it could've been higher had their home matches vs. Dragons, Warriors and Bulldogs (which still drew 21k on a wet, miserable Friday night) not been rain-affected.

Furthermore, the Knights are easily capable of averaging 25k+ if they were a top 4 side

Don’t forget Dolphins played Souths and St George at Kayo for some reason at the very least losing 10k to each game, Dogs playing Dolphins at Bundaberg cost them at least 8-10k

Without the rain I would guess the average to be around 24k or slightly above. At the ground today was a great atmosphere even sitting in the rain 15min before kickoff.

Yep. The other option is a Townsville semi in the heat of the day... this is a better outcome
LOL!

I remember that week 2 final in 2007 between the Cowboys and Warriors.

Warriors really struggled that day in the heat.

26c with 77% humidity is Sunday's forecast

Throw in that their fan base travel all over the region....

Or we believe the journo that 50k at Accor and 20k at GWS

Is a factor when in 4 weeks 84k will be leaving the area for the GF.

I went to Fooeys in Dec that night had 50c and a rave on.

I also had Blink on the same night as Taylor Swift... no issue leaving any of those events

Nor have I leaving the GF with 85k the last 2 years

So the journo is full of it

Should be the first NSW club in line for stadium upgrades after Penrith is done.

@SLRBRONCOS is there a ticketing world in the future where Dolphins and Broncos fans are separated? For example, at northern and southern ends of Lang Park?

I think this could create a fantastic tribal effect like the 09 prelim Parra v Canterbury.

It's a bit too tricky given how both teams allocate memberships. It could be done in a final though, we'd just need to cancel the same seat member buy back opportunity for home team members, which wouldn't go down well. Some Broncos memberships are sold on the basis that if we make a home final, you have access to your seat.

A mate of mine who is a stadium member said that the divisions were pretty clear for the two games this year.

- At the Broncos home game level 3, 5, and 6 were mostly Broncos fans. Level 7 had a bunch of Phins fans. He said it looked and felt about an 80% Broncos crowd.

- At the Dolphins home game level 3 and 5 south were mostly Phins fans, and the rest were packed with Broncos fans.

Yeah I get that but fact is this is the 21st century and a city of 5 million has a rectangular stadium which at most holds 30000. The larger grounds in Melbourne provide a sub standard experience for league union and football fans. You’d think with some forward thinking a 50000 stadium would be in the wings but no.
Honestly for a city that size and for the supposed 'sporting capital of the world' 30k is piss poor

"Being scared" isn't what it's about.

It's about avoiding a logistical nightmare for fans heading to both games, and not putting excess pressure on transport infrastructure. Pretty logical stuff
Homebush precinct and transport can handle 82k for the GF, SOO, Bledisloe and Soccer but can't handle 65k combined for Dogs, Manly, GWS combo?

Just had a look at the interactive maps on ticketek for all games. Obviously some seats will be held back for non ticketed members, and NRL members, however all games are selling extremely well.

Such a shame about the Sunday forecast.

And even more if they had a higher capacity ground.

Get it to 40k. Build stands behind the goalposts at each end.
